Tomorrow is my last day of work this week since I work Sundays-Thursdays, then I get Sunday off for Christmas and requested the day off for the day after Christmas. Of course, that uses up my vacation time for 2005, but I'll accrue some more next year.

A foreign exchange student who stayed with us a few years ago.

God, he was a great kid. Wish I could see him again.

what will be your Christmas dinner? Is there a speciality you always eat? And another question: do you get your presents on Christmas Eve (like we do) or on Christmas morning (like our American friends).

Each year I point out that goose is more traditional (turkey having been brought to England from America fairly recently), but get shouted down. Obviously we have a Christmas pudding, brought to the table with flaming brandy poured all over it. Plus lots of good wine :D and finished with some cheeses (which I have to buy tomorrow) accompanied by port, then coffee with brandy of a liquer.

Christmas presents are for the morning. We still get stockings which we open first thing, then after we get home from church open the rest of the presents (which are under the Christmas tree).

What's a German Christmas dinner like?

it is mostly a small dinner like fish or something small. The big dinner is on the 25th. Duck or goose is most popular. We don't have a specific recipe in our family. We choose from year to year what we wnt to eat. Actually I have no idea what I will eat this year :) We drink wine to it of course. And I try to get my family used to Egg Nogg. So far only my mom likes it as I do.

missed MissHoneychurch. I too am leaving this afternoon, but will be back on Monday sometime.
