I think I took too many painkillers.
I have a knee problem that acts up ever so often because of my running routine. I have been prescribed a non-narcotic but the pain just wouldn't go away so I took way more than the prescribed amount. I think my liver is in for it because after looking at the drug description, it has a ton of acetamenophin. Yikes. Oh well. I'll cut back tomorrow and drink plenty of liquids today. Not asking for advice so mods don't close the thread.

1. Noooo!
Call your doc and if he/she is not in, call your pharmacist. Tell them everything you told us here. You may be fine but let the pro's determine that. We want you to be ok!

I've got a call in to my doctor. I'm expecting a call back later on today.

3. I thought the room was melting on you
The last time I od'd on pain killers that's what I did sat in a chair and turned to jello for hours. Try diluting them with water and flushing your system.

4. Don't drink any booze, for a while
Your liver will shut down faster than a Krispy Kreme shop in Boston.

9. Yeah.
There is nothing like being a forced teetotaler for several months. As I said further down the thread, I had to abstain from alcohol for 3 months after taking too many tylenol.

13. Hi Mary.
Can we start over again.

I don't know of any reason why we can't just be friends.

Okay?

BTW ~ I wish you a very happy holiday.

6. Drink water
You need to flush out your liver.

Also ask the doctor for stronger painkillers so you don't have to take as many (and as a result taking less acetominophen)

10. I feel
fine if not a bit woosy and I am not yellow but I and do have a bit a nausea, but it is my fault. My doctor called and told me to drink plenty of water but the liver damage would probably only happen after long term abuse of the drug. He told me to call in if I feel "strange" tomorrow.

7. Eeks.
Gah. I once took way too many tylenol. I couldn't drink for 3 months to balance the effect it had on my liver. I had my liver rechecked every three weeks or so.

I'm not going to give you painkiller advice- but definitely talk to the doc about alternatives.
