The 17 year-old heard a heartbeat yesterday.
Sorry to skip out, but what with the past week it's been ... well, interesting.

She's pretty well along in her pregnancy, didn't decide to tell her mom or me until last week, so at this point the baby is on. :)

Not much to tell right now, just that she's doctor-certified healthy, the dad-to-be is stepping up and filling out forms like crazy to get some health care cost aid, and grandma-to-be is in supportive mode. Although it's becoming increasingly clear to the mom-to-be that she's actually going to have a baby and her life is spinning headlong into something very, very different that she's got to deal with herself.

The heartbeat was an eye-opener, I believe. Which is to say her eyes got really, really open. :) Her mom was 16 when she became pregnant with her, so there's something of a knowledge base here.

Comedy moment: Robb's suggestion for naming the baby, if a girl, "Secretia" was met with riotous laughter.

Comedy moment #2: The baby's due date is 6/6/06. :headbang:

Er, ask me anything? :D

1. So you're kinda sorta gonna be a grandpa!
Glad she has loads of support. She'll need it.

Bet the baby's first word will be "dingbat."

3. Been there, done that.
Got the grandson to prove it. And, eventually, the son-in-law. and, later still, the granddaughter. Seemed impossible at the time, but our hearts and our home are filled with the joyous laughter of a five year old, and the cooing and first giggles of his little sister.

5. Love the due date. Any thoughts to naming your grandchild after Satan?
Beezlebub, etc?

8. 6/6?
If it's a girl, they oughta name her Normandy.
