When is the last time a really GOOD new Christmas song was written?
Whenever I hear the inevitable Christmas music throughout this time of year, it makes me realize the last really orignal song is at LEAST 20 years old. The latest generation to "mature" has simply not shown the imagination to make a lasting impression on this holiday, other than to declare war on it.

If there's a new song worth singing out there, I want to know what it is. I just don't believe there IS one.

Merry Christmas!

1. There have been some good ones...
Kate Bush : December Will Be Magic Again
Kirsty MacColl and the Pogues: Fairy Tale of New York
Boney M : Mary's Boy Child (ok, more than 20 years old but it's really good)

Khash.

2. I'm with you.
I heard Avril Lavigne tonight doing O Holy Night. She should have left it alone. I think Bob Geldorf was the last to write a good Christmas song.

7. Wierd Al!
Christmas at Ground Zero (though that one's approaching 20 years old)
The Night Santa Went Crazy ("down in the workshop, all the elves were making toys; for the good gentile girls, and the good gentile boys. then the boss busted in, and he scared them half to death; had a rifle in his hand, and cheap whiskey on his breath. From his beard to his boots he was covered with ammo, like a big fat drunk disgruntled Yultide rambo. and he smiled as he said, with a twinkle in his eye, "Merry Christmas to all! Now you're all gonna die!")

But, seriously, except for mannheim steamroller covers and trans-siberian orchestra covers, there havent been any that I like
