Good Monday Morning, Everybody!
:donut::hi:
I hope you had a GREAT christmas day yesterday and Santa was good to ALL of you! :bounce: And now here we are at Monday and the beginning of another work week. For those of us in retail, that means all the Clearance Sales begin today! Do you go shopping on the day after christmas? Another thing it means is...returns. The most hated transaction in retail.

Tony (our new puppy) is doing wonderfully! He didn't cry even once last night while he was in his kennel, so we got a full nights sleep! :bounce: His is such a joy to have too. Greekspeak thinks Tony loves ME more than he loves him because he's always right where I am in the house. Right this moment, he is laying across my feet looking up at me with his adorbale puppy eyes. As you can probably tell, I love this little dog!

So what's YOUR plans for today? Are you off work? And if you are, are you going shopping?

2. Good morning Clint!
Ah, the dreaded day after Christmas in the retail world. I hated that so much...returns galore, plus all of the rugrats out of school so the parents flood into the malls because they have no better way to entertain them. :scared:

Are the kitty/doggy relations going any better yet?

7. Hello, Miss Buffy!
:hi::hug:
Yes, Bandit seems to be tolerating him a little better now! :woohoo: He still takes swipes at Tony if he bothers him while he's eating, but I think that's OK. Tony needs to learn to leave him alone when he's eating.

I go in today at noon. I'm not looking forward to all the freakin returns, let me tell ya.

And you're right--Bandit needs to be able to eat in peace.

I dreaded post-Christmas returns like crazy. If they were as simple as a sale it would be no problem, but all of that paperwork :puke:. I don't envy you one bit on that.

19. I hate returns more than any other transaction I do.
ESPECIALLY on the day after christmas. x( I may try to stay away from the registers as much as I can today and let the other managers deal with them. (yeah, right)!

24. Good luck on that
Stay on the sales floor--be one of those "vultures" who swoops down on customers the second they cross the threshold into your store and just follow them around the whole time they are in there. Then you won't have to go to the registers too much. :silly:

(I joke about the "vulture" thing because some overly-anxious sales people remind me of vultures descending on prey.)

28. LOL!
I'm no vulture. I will go say hello to them. Welcome them to my store. Ask if I can help them, and then I leave them alone. I'll check back with them after a while to see if they have any questions I can answer. I don't like sales people hovering over me when I'm in a store, so I don't hover over them when they're in MY store.

35. I worked from my philosophy of how I wanted to be treated too
Which was I made myself visible, but I didn't swoop down on people the minute they came into the store or got within eyesight. Unfortunately the management wanted anyone who crossed the threshold, or particularly anyone within 10 feet to be greeted and offered assistance (and they meant pressured to buy). That's why I wasn't the best fit in their environment.

38. We want everyone greeted with 10 seconds.
But NO high pressure. Just check back with them to see if they have questions. I'm cool with that. I have lots of people who come in all the time, and several who hug me every time they come in, so they get my attention at once.

3. Good Morning Clint ~
That is great news about Tony!

I'm staying away from the stores and giving everyone a bit more breathing room.

However ~ I will be back at Block Buster. I watched 4 movies in the past 2 days and I'm enjoying the peacefulness around here.
We all stayed the hell home yesterday and slept.

BTW ~ Merry day after Christmas!

I have 2 cats who occassionally act like dogs. I haven't had a dog for so long. We live on a very busy street with no fence and every time I think of a puppy I realize I better move or get a bunch of money for a fence before I get one. Congratulations on your puppy baby!

8. Good morning Clint
:hi:

Happy Boxing Day.

I had a delightful time yesterday, and there's no way that anybody could get me into a shop today, I think that most of the post-Christmas sales begin tomorrow here in England but I'm not going into any shop for quite a while yet.

Glad that you're getting on so well with Tony - is Josephus getting used to him?

46. The software offered to scan my harddisk
I've now got over 1500 items to look through on the library - the vast majority of these to be removed immediately.

Then I get the great fun of ripping all of my C.D.s and turning them into various playlists.......but I'm still very happy with my new toy :bounce: :bounce:

Knowing how long returns take from the perspective of a customer - I can only imagine how nasty they are from your side of the till. to help your day along.

50. It's a Sony thing - and has 20Gig
Which should easily take what I want to throw at it.

I'm being festive and transfering the Christmas Oratorio by J.S. Bach to it at the moment (shockingly the 'sample songs' didn't really appeal to me very much).

It looks jolly easy to create playlists, which will be helpful given that most stuff I listen to is broken down into several tracks.

If we go out at all it will be out to eat for lunch and perhaps a movie!

Just like the day after Thanksgiving, I avoid shopping the day after Christmas like the plague! Thankfully I have nothing to return, and neither do the rest of my family!

I hope you have as easy a day at work as possible, and that people in the store are kind and patient.
