"Duh" moment: So I finally clued in that drinking in moderation during the

holidays (for me at least,) is just STUPID! Why did I ever even bother to do so in years past? I popped my first wine cooler on Xmas Eve about 11 am, just kept drinking all weekend, and I was the DAMN happiest, friendliest, nicest, best Lara I've ever been at the "gatherings" we attended... I didn't even flip out at my husband or mother!

I didn't cry when I completely hosed up my hazelnut meringue, and nothing really bothered me. Too bad it took me this many years to figure out I just need to be half in the bag to make the relatives a whole lotta fun! Champagne is gooo-oood!

1. That's the beauty of older siblings.

My brothers clued me in during my teenaged years that the whole famn damily was easier to love and giggle about if I wuz a mite liquored up to start with.

They didn't mean to provide that epiphany, but they did.

I was pretty trashed early on and had to sober up quickly when I was called in to work.
