I'm BORED out of my SKULL.
The kid is spending the night at a friend's house. The husband is asleep, has to get up early tomorrow.

School doesn't start back up for me (full time graduate student) until later in January.

I've cooked and baked and cleaned. I've done yoga TWICE. I've taken the dog on a very long walk. I've finished reading "Their Eyes Were Watching God" (very good book, btw). I finished reading "Wicked." I watched the ENTIRE season five of Gilmore Girls on DVD in the last week. I finished a scrapbook I was working on. I tried a new wine (good). The husband already raked the leaves or I would have done that. I'm thinking about washing the poor dog.

We're going camping on Wednesday, probably through Sunday. But DAMMIT, what do I do with myself now?

TALK TO ME!!!!! AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! Here are my options:

1. See how easily the gingerbread house breaks?

2. Play Sudoku game number 1,674,890?

3. Design an entire village out of toothpicks and drinking straws? I'd have to go buy some, and that would kill some time.

4. Alphabetize the DVDs?

5. Make a paper chain out of construction paper, then light it in the backyard?

3. Oh to add:
I've also already watched every video that comes up when you type in "hockey fight" on Google video.

Too bad that didn't last longer.

I mean, I could watch a movie, listen to music or what have you, but I'm bored AND listless. :D

5. Augh, that's the worst, the WORST.
That's me. When you're taking decongestants for fun, you might be a wee bit bored.

Go to Google, type in google video, then type in hockey fight in the search box. That'll entertain you for about fifteen mintes. Most of them are very good (how can there be a BAD hockey fight?).

I'm off of 'health issues' for a while.

Hockey fights, eh? :D

9. Did you have them taken out?
Yeah, hockey fights, good fun. One lasts for over FIVE MINUTES. It's two Slovenian hockey clubs. You think the fight is over, and then bam, someone else starts pounding somebody.

With another fight, they take off their helmets and gloves and throw everything down and do this almost graceful ice dance around each other for a bit, taunting each other, before they start hitting. Fascinating, in a sick way.

If you had them taken out, my wishes for a speedy recovery. Are you feeling better?

Just anti-biotics to kill the infection, which is going quite well, thanks.

I'll have to check these fights out. :D

11. I had bronchitis a few weeks ago.
I used to get it all the time and I never remember it being THAT bad. The week of Thanksgiving, the kid got strep throat. We've had fun here.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Didja miss any work? Do check out the hockey stuff, it's Big Time Boy Stuff.

I guess you missed the part where I left my job. I'm a paralegal student now. :)

I thought I had strep, but the doctor confirmed with a test that it was just a garden variety infection.

Seriously? Yeah, I did miss that. Well, good for you. You hated that job, didn't you? Wow. That takes courage, it would sound condescending to say I'm proud of you, so I won't. But I am. :-)

18. It didn't take THAT much courage.
I had vacated mentally a long time ago, and they had gotten to the point of noticing. So, I figured the time was right to make a move. So, I could feel the push coming, but I did jump.

6. you could write something for us
are you like hyperkinetic or something? I got exhausted just reading the list of things you have done. I would be too tired to be bored. What is your graduate school major? Anything you can study on that between semesters, or is studying too boring? I love reading in my field or in sociology and anthropology and history. Well, not enough to actually do any of it in the last year. Who has the time?

8. Exactly.
No, not hyperkinetic, believe me, LOL. Just like to be somewhat busy and this sitting around stuff gets to me.

Reading really isn't tiring and I did a lot of that today.

My major is Educational Administration, with a minor in Curriculum & Instruction. Fascinating, eh? LOL. This next semester, I'll be taking a couple of classes that deal with educational law.

I am thinking I'll get started on my program portfolio after the new year, but right now I don't want to touch it.

I need a book, that's what I need. A new book.

25. I have a house full of books
but few of them are new. Some are new to me, since I bought another bag as the last library sale. I have not read any of them yet. I do most of my reading online, except for the newspaper(s) at work. I always find tons of interesting stuff to read on the net, plus I have continuing research and correspondence.
Educational Admin sounds too practical to be interesting to me. I do not even have kids. I did enjoy Paul Goodman's "Compulsory Miseducation"

I asked if she was trying to be a principal, she said "no way!!!" I like to keep the ones I really like, plus I have a bunch left over from my own half price store. I hate to give them away, or sell them for one cent on the dollar. And I have a biggish house for one guy.

22. It was quiet, just the way we like it.
We don't do a ton of gifts, so not a lot to clean up. All the decorations and stuff are still up, though, that'll take a while. We're not taking them down until this weekend, probably.

How was your Christmas? Did we destroy it, like Bill O'Reilly said we were? I noticed it still happened, so I guess not.... ;-)

33. Christmas was fine. There are gifts laying all over the floor
and in one room where I was doing the wrapping (btw,my cats are very helpful with wrapping), there is still a lot of paper, ribbon, scissors, tape and all the other junk just laying there. I still have to wrap a few gifts for some birthdays coming up later this week and I just do theirs in the Xmas paper. There were 3 parties over the last three days with lots of gifts exchanged and I am exhausted. I think I wrapped about 50 gifts but I didn't count. They were all fun, they all had great food, I made a lot of cookies, etc. And I am so damned tired now I just want to veg out. I want to sit and read the Sunday paper and see what happened two days ago. And today it doesn't seem like Monday, and yesterday didn't seem like Sunday...and you can quite clearly tell I am very discombobulated with all of it.

Edited on Mon Dec-26-05 10:24 PM by hibbing
If you use windows go get Mirc, if you use a mac go get ircle, connect to the undernet and play acro with us, it is like boggle, always some fun people around playing. Whoops, I was told by someone playing that most people find the game dumb!! So, forget my suggestion!

Peace

37. irc

Mirc is a little program used to access internet relay chat (irc), one of the earliest chat programs around I believe. It is text only. There are a ton networks, undernet, is one of those. Within each network are channels, which are like rooms. There are interactive game channels in which you play various games with other people. I frequent #acro, like I said it is like the game boggle, you make sentences given out of letters given by a bot, then you vote for the one you like the best. People aren't in there playing all the time, but usually from around 8:30 cst on there are. Give it a try sometimes. Mirc you can get for free trial version, just don't register it. Sorry for the long post.

peace

I'm in the same boat, so I'm crocheting hats for the kiddos of a friend of mine and watching Real Genius, again :)

What kind of stuff do you like to read? I'll toss some suggestions your way if I have any... won't help you tonight, but might help tomorrow....

You could always alphabetize your spices, and dust the tops of your doorframes :P

30. I was on the verge of getting bored ... so I went out campaigning!
We have a federal election next month in Canada, so I did a literature drop in the precinct next to mine. It took me about 3 hours and I burned off the Christmas chocolates I ate last night, climbing all those stairs. I also field-tested the fleece vest my friends gave me (works just great!).
