A good dog
We said goodbye to our dear Sadie today. She was almost 14 years old. So, so sad to lose her.

I never knew a Golden before I met my husband. I like all critters, but she was the best.

I hope she can be a puppy again wherever she may be now. I never had a "purebred" dog before, and Sadie impressed me with just the qualities you mentioned. And she was a fabulous caretaker of *us*.

I hope there's an even better view of that lake where you are now.

And to Habibi and family, my condolences and well wishes.

I'm a non-theist, at this point in my life. I tell you, that's the toughest thing about this. I dealt with my mother's death better than I'm dealing with this. I so want to believe that Sadie's spirit is still alive. I can't seem to stop asking my friends: Do you think there is a heaven, and could she be there?

Ach. This sucks.

10. Whether there's a heaven or not is debatable, and endlessly so.
I am of the opinion that there is something else that follows the shuffling off of this mortal coil, but what that is, I couldn't really say (not having experienced it first hand).

I think she's still out there somewhere, and she's probably having one heck of a good time.

32. There is a wonderful scene in the movie "What Dreams May Come"
Edited on Wed Dec-28-05 08:18 PM by redwitch
Robin Williams( in heaven) is bowled over by his dog who joyously licks his face in welcome. I think I wept for the rest of the movie! Seriously, if there is a heaven there will have to be cats and dogs- how could anywhere be heaven without our fuury children? The pets who love us and are loved in return are nothing but fur and spirit and love- that kind of energy couldn't possibly be gone forever. RIP Sadie, you beautiful beastie, til you and Habibi meet again!

13. Golden retriever?
Ours had a similar color, though it mellowed. (Her name was "Paprika"). Sorry she's gone, but fourteen is a long and, I'm sure, a happy life.

Yeah, Sadie made it to a ripe old age. A testament to my husband's meticulous, loving care of her (he had her for 8 years before we met)--and exceptional genes, I imagine.

22. My heart goes out to you today........I feel your sorrow for this loss.
I have had this loss, too......it will get easier, but it does take time.

Here's a little poem I ran across a long time ago. I hope it will help you.....

I explained to St. Peter,

I'd rather stay here,

Outside the pearly gate.

I won't be a nuisance,

I won't even bark,

I'll be very patient and wait.

I'll be here, chewing on a celestial bone,

No matter how long you may be.

I'd miss you so much, if I went in alone,

It wouldn't be Heaven for me.

I had to put my 11 year old Border Collie, Cody, to sleep in June. I like the idea of Cody being there to greet me one day...he was such a great dog and I miss him so much.

Thanks for that.

I'm so pleased that you love this little poem.....

It has helped many, and that includes me, recover from the sorrow of the loss of a beloved pet...

Glad it helped you! Feel free to spread it around wherever you think it will do the most good, too.....

She is a beautiful girl. What a wonderful opportunity, to let her know how much she was loved all those years.

I believe that good and loving energy/souls gather in the same place after life as we know it.

She will be there for you.

For you:

For Sadie:

Take care.

I had to put my 11 year old Border Collie to sleep in June -- perhaps one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. I miss him so much.

I like to think that someday we are all reunited with our pets...

I love the way Goldens look when they get older, the way their face changes.

Your Sadie was beautiful and she looks adorably sweet. It's a blessing, though, that you all found each other and shared your lives together.

If there is a big field or something where all doggies go to play when they pass, I'm sure my Darwin will be there waiting to welcome her. We lost him about 3 years ago. She was beautiful.

She was a beautiful girl. Its been almost one year since we lost our boy, Jack. I know how you feel. I too pretty much ran out of tears, I cried so much. I too hope there is something else after earthly existence. If there is then Jack will welcome her. He was so playful. But he will probably chase her though!
