I think I like this shot of you most of all (so far). I like the soft lighting and the simple elegance of the composition. I also really like the pattern of light created in the background by the vertical blinds. It adds just enough interest and texture without being distracting.

Beyond that, you have pretty eyes and I think this shot showcases them better than others I've seen. And I like that you have sort of a Mona Lisa smile thing going on here.

My hair was the same color as yours when I was young but no matter how much I suffered for beauty my hair wanted to be straight.

...as far back as we can trace it.

Mostly Norwegian and a smidge of Swedish. I had the same hair when I was her age. :)

131. LOL! No I'm a little bit past
6'3" and since most men overestimate their own height wildiy I just say 6'4". (I've met a lotta dudes who are 5'11" and insist tey are 6'1", so they have to up my height or admit they are not that tall!)

The girl standing to my right is about 5'1" so that REALLY makes me look tall.

When I cut my hair after this year of school, I always thought I'd grow it back out, as I had several times in the past. I never got around to it--and now it's started to thin out :cry:

The boys are horrid little monsters when they see the bag packed for a weekend trip, so it's amazing they sat still long enough for a picture. But, they're mamma's boys so they do just about anything for me. Especially when Daddy tells them to 'sit down and let me take your picture!'

That's two compliments I've never received before. What can I say about my wrist? Years of keeping them lovingly and safely ensconced in addidas sweatbands, 24/7, will do that for a man. It's just what one does if one wants a long and robust career as a wrist model.

1. Start out saying the name James only don't pronounce the sss part.
2. then say "uh"
3. then say steen, like stein but not with the i sound but an e sound instead.

Hope that makes sense in some way. It's the only way I can try to explain it.

222. Lots of people use Jama like "Alabama" for short.
I have no problem with it. I made the name up when I was about 12 years old, years ago. I just mixed my cat Jamie with Chris Stein's name the way I first thought it was prounounced. At one point I was saying it as Jama (same as the first two steps) and then stein, like the name or the beer mug. Either way is cool, but I guess, officially, it's like the last post. ;D

I love shelties. I have dog-sat three shelties and they are just the smartest dogs. The first one was Andy, also a tri-color and he was such an amazing dog, but much larger than yours. He was always trying to herd me, LOL! And I never even needed a leash with him; he'd go out and do his business and come right back in if I left the door ajar. A remarkable and intelligent dog, and much better behaved than mine...:shrug:

so losing them sooner, rather than later, is inevitable, and it rips my heart out, but they're the ones who need me. My Sara is 10, and I've had her for just over two years, and my little guy is 12 now. He found me just before Christmas, three years ago. And I'm currently staying with a friend who has a 100lb. Airedale, LOL!:loveya:

Right now I have six pets, various ages. I have my hands full, but in the future. Thanks for what you are doing. Those sweet senior pets do need love!

I hope you are right and that JK thought I was cool. I tried to appear intelligent and together, but I fear I must have looked like a blathering idiot.

419. Taking older animals is tough. They have often have some issues,
but I've been very fortunate with the ones who have found me, and they do. I had two cockers, my breed, but lost them within six months of each other. My Barney was the one who convinced me that taking older pets was the right thing for me. I saw him on a pet adoption segment of my local news and his story broke my heart. He was considered a difficult case because he was at least 10, wasn't housebroken and had never lived with people. He'd been a stud dog at a puppy mill, but had gotten too old and was going to be euthanized, but was fortunately rescued. He was a beautiful dog, with the best temperament, and I had him for eight years. I lost him three years ago, and still miss him terribly. But my guys find me. I thought my other dog missed him, so called about an eight-year-old male cocker, who had already been placed, and that's how I found the little one. My neighbor told me that I should adopt a puppy, but I told her that everyone wants puppies, but who'll take an eight-year-old dog with seizures? I've adopted two, both cockers. And my cats find me, as well. The most I've ever had at one time are two dogs and two cats. Fortunately, I also have a great vet.:D

And that's such a great pic of you and JK, a remarkable keepsake. And most people would be awed to meet him, but you look as if you handled yourself well.:-)

I am so glad to hear that you have taken in all these "mature pets." That's a wonderfully kind thing you're doing. All my animals are rescued strays, too.

426. My candidate was Dennis Kucinich, but Kerry convinced me, once I
really listened to what he had to say. I think he was exactly what we needed, especially with his experience as a prosecutor, since we have an entire administration that deserves to be behind bars.:grr:

And I think I would have reacted the same way if I met JK, since he's such a commanding presence. I'm not easily intimidated, but he's one impressive guy! And he sure seems impressed with you...;)

As for my taking older animals, I've been the one who's been fortunate. Unlike puppies or kittens, my guys have been very good since day one, especially Barney. They seem to bond pretty easily, especially Barney and my little guy, who's snoring behind me in my chair, as I type this. :-) And my grandmother approved of my taking older pets. She especially loved my Barney, the former stud dog, said that I was giving him "a nice retirement.":D

I had a feeling hat your guys were rescue, as well. We liberals are notoriously soft-hearted, but I think that's an admirable quality. I loved the story of JK rescuing the hamster, LOL!:D

He was the most beautiful dog, with the best temperament. And he had eight years with me, that he wouldn't have had, if not for a wonderful woman in rescue. That part breaks my heart, as well. But I have been very fortunate, as was my perfect boy.:loveya:
