1. I only saw one of the top ten, the Herbie one.
I loved the old Herbie movies, and I liked this one, too. Of course, when I watched it, I was snuggled up on a couch with the bf and drinking wine, so that might have predisposed me.

I did, however, see and hate The Dying Gaul, one of the next ten worst movies, at the Seattle International Film Festival. It's the sort of movie that starts off pretty good, then gets off track, then meanders into nowhere and ends bizarrely. You leave the theater thinking, hmmm...did I like that movie? Ten minutes later you're sure you didn't and a few hours later you're ranting about it to anyone who'll listen.

15. I liked Crash
all the characters were intertwined in a contrived way, but so what? It was a movie. It was extremely well acted, interesting and well worth watching, IMO. It was the only movie on the list that I saw, but if IT was one of the year's worst it was a pretty good year.

19. B+ sounds about right
Quality. Not brilliant, but DEFINTIELY not one of the ten worst.

20. I thought that Waiting was alright
I thought that it was in line with other crude humor movies that take place over a short period of time in which there is no breath taking plot, but teaches us something about life.

7. I know. Because: Duh.
I liked their follow ups, though: War of the Worlds--I can't believe it. Have a fun 2006, Tom. For the first time in a long time, I think your star is on the decline.

9. Hmmmm...
I keep seeing Crash on the top 10 BEST lists, so it seems kinda strange to see it on a worst list, too. I have it at the top of my Netflix queue, hopefully I'll get it next week.

The only one I've seen in the top 10 was Elektra (hubby rented it). I agree, it was pretty bad. I thought The Pacifier was ok (for a kids movie) and I am surprised that the remake of the Bad News Bears didn't make it on this list (I thought that was the worst movie of 2005).

24. saw that,
it was right up there with ishtar, cyborg 1 & 2, and anything post-1998 shannon tweed or steven seagal.

i'm surpised "the island" isn't on that list. i couldn't even suffer to the end, merciful sleep saved me about halfway through the DVD.

one has to take a BRAIN to the theater... :eyes:

I enjoyed it.

21. I didn't see any of the Top Ten
So that's a good thing, I guess... Then again, I'm not a very big fan of movie critics. I like to read them, but they also annoy me quite a bit. Pretty similar to how I feel about music critics...

My nominees, out of the movies I saw, would be The Ice Harvest (which I noticed made their second tier of worst choices), The Fog, and Yours, Mine, and Ours. I'm really not that picky of a moviegoer, though, and I usually just avoid movies that I don't think are up my alley. I just expected The Fog to be a good old-fashioned scary movie, but it was mostly just silly. Yours, Mine, and Ours was a little too hokey even for me; I just saw it 'cause some family members wanted to see it. The Ice Harvest was the worst I saw this year; just a gross mess altogether.

I disagree on War of the Worlds. It wasn't awesome, but it wasn't that bad either, and I think the ending was pretty much just in keeping with the book's original ending.

in fact, only saw 1 of the top 20 --- War of the
Worlds. Agree that it was awful. Should never

29. Crash sucked
Sorry, have to say it. The description as self-aware, manipulative and contrived is right on the money.

I do agree that the acting was good, and I had heard great things about the movie before I saw it, but I was not impressed.

I managed to stay away from that one.

But it's kind of like comparing apples and oranges. I mean, DOH was supposed to suck.
