1. Marin County here
it's stopped raining for now, but there's flooding in Marin, Napa, and Sonoma counties.

We're supposed to get another whopper of a rainstorm at some point over the weekend :-(

3. Redding here
We had 5 inches yesterday! There's flooding around town, but very little of it is serious. It's stopped for now, so hopefully some of it can sink in a bit.

8. We'll be okay
as long as they don't decide that it's more important to save the dam than prevent flooding in our neighborhood.

So barring total catastrophe, we're okay. :D

17. Can I make a suggestion?
Edited on Sat Dec-31-05 10:28 PM by XemaSab
I have been on a hot buttered rum tear....

Spoon of butter, spoon of brown sugar, spoon of white sugar, spoon of vanilla ice cream, shot of rum, and top off the mug with hot water.

Oh man.... it's good times!

But the rum and coke sounds good too!

cheers!!!! :D

18. Oh, I am going to bookmark your post.
I don't have regular rum, I have the spiced stuff (which is very good over ice).

But I will get some regular and some brown sugar and some vanilla and try your recipe!

It sounds delicious. :9

Thanks! :pals:

As long as the damned storm drain stays clear, we're fine here. We're not on an especially low spot or terribly close to a river.

Could you all think a few calming thoughts at LeftyDad? He and his roommates are living at most 30 feet away from the American River levee (over by Sac State, for those who know the area) and there's some concern that they may have to evacuate if the water gets much higher there. It is a freshly reinforced and very tall levee so I'm not too worried, but he's a bit concerned.

10. We're ok, up here on a hill.
Sending prayers to everyone near running water, and hoping that the next whammy isn't as bad as they say it will be.

:scared:

Everyone be careful!

16. Oh, the rain.
Edited on Sat Dec-31-05 10:17 PM by Maat
I'm out here in Temecula Valley (down south - 1 hour north of San Diego - inland).

I got up at 3 a.m., drove to my church for the World Peace Meditation Observance, participated in a great ceremony with 50 people, then we went to breakfast at Pennifold's; I was home by 7 a.m.

It didn't start raining until afternoon. There wasn't an earthquake, was there?

Then I came home and my husband said it turned out the music, and the music blasted through the intercom system (and outside).

Then my kid woke up screaming her throat hurt.

Needless to say, the day went somewhat south from there.

It's been pounding rain down here since this afternoon; we didn't make it to the San Diego Charger game, but I'm glad.

Drains are holding up here!

22. Yo!
Not so bad here. About 10 straight hours of rain and some high winds, but this isn't a flood zone. Three power failures, though, since the infrastructure is pre-Flintstones.

I'll have a mess o' leaves and twigs to rake. That's about it.

Oh... and a roofer to holler at. :grr:
