8. My favorite? "The Way You Look Tonight"
"The Way You Look Tonight"

Some day, when I'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight.

You're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.

With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fears apart
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
Touches my foolish heart.

Yes you're lovely, never, ever change
Keep that breathless charm.
Won't you please arrange it?
'Cause I love you
Just the way you look tonight.

With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fears apart
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
Touches my foolish heart.

Yes you're lovely, never, ever change
Keep that breathless charm.
Won't you please arrange it?
'Cause I love you
Just the way you look tonight.
Just the way you look tonight.
Darling
Just the way you look tonight.

it stands up to anything in it's style and genre...and then more.

Written in 1936....The Words by Dorothy Fields , music by Jerome Kern .

43. Its an incredible work....Thanks for the info on its origin...
The song has an almost magical effect on me. It fits that its from the 1930's because so much of the progressive music from that era is still being enjoyed.

Sinatra's version was the first I ever heard (at least that I remember). Did you know that it was also used on "Star Trek: Deep Space 9" frequently. They had a recurring holographic character who portrayed a 1950's Vegas lounge singer, Vic Fontaine (James Darren) and it was among his staples. Lots of other fabulous songs from the era on this cd if you're interested. His voice fits the music like a glove.

51. I'm a sucker for romance and this song does it for me....
I can't even sing it because my throat tightens up around the third verse so I just hum. It reminds me that all happiness is fleeting and to enjoy life and each moment to the fullest.

Not that it's actually a GOOD slow dance song, but because it was always really funny to watch slow-dancers in high school find themselves without a clue as to what to do when the rockin' part kicked in. Comedy gold.

26. Eh,
I think, with the movie at least, the story was not as important as the symbolism behind it. The series had similar "mind fuck" qualities toward the end and was also full of symbolism, but it tried to maintain a pretense of reality. Then the movie was just out there.

And maybe if this conversation's to continue, it should go to PM before we hijack the thread.
