1. I am.
But yeah, awfully quiet. Like the night I posted the "Okay, who killed the fucking lounge" thread!

9. Hello, I must be going.
Hello, I must be going.
I cannot stay,
I came to say
I must be going.
I'm glad I came
but just the same
I must be going.

For my sake you must stay,
for if you go away,
you'll spoil this party
I am throwing.

I'll stay a week or two,
I'll stay the summer through,
but I am telling you,
I must be going.

16. It's always very quiet in here at this time of day.
It usually means that I actually get some work done before getting totally distracted in the afternoon.

18. I faff around in an office.
Mostly waisting time, occasionally doing some financial stuff in a vague attempt to keep the company from going insolvent and all its employees from going bankrupt.

19. Word.
So you're on the other side of the Ouse from Billy?

Red kite seems to be the specialty bird there.

I found a book online but it's a bit pricy.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0713640022/fatbirder-21/203-8932037-7841516

195 pounds for a book on birding the area.

:o

What do you do for fun?

I've never seen a picture of you, to my knowledge. :(

Do you have one? :bounce:

28. Hi MrsG!
:loveya:

I only just arrived at work. My car broke down this morning! x( On the plus side, I discovered that the train service between Bedford (where I live) and Wellingborough (where I work) is actually pretty good. :)

:hi:

How are you?

29. I am good! Glad you made it to work okay. How are gas prices
there? Perhaps the train is the way to go.

We have freezing rain here this morning so I am waiting to get a phone call canceling school for my daughter. I've got a job that's about a 3 hour round trip; I'm not looking forward to that trip.

30. I was thinking that. Because actually the train ride was really pleasant
It was really fast, peaceful, cheap, and the service is pretty frequent. The only snag is the necessity of a taxi ride from the station to where I work.

Gas prices are pretty high here, but we're not hurting as much as you are because the largest part of the price at the pump here is fuel duty - a tax which is levied as a fixed amount per litre, not as a percentage. That means that if the price of oil doubles, the cost at the pump only goes up 10%, say, rather than 100%. So we are paying a lot now, for sure, but we don't notice it so much because we were paying quite a lot before anyway.

It was pretty cold here too this morning - three degrees below freezing when I de-iced my car (before it crapped out on me). It was very cold when I took my shower at 6:30! :scared:

31. I just got a phone call, cancelling school for my daughter.
My little son is going to be mad, mad, MAD. Our neighborhood school rarely cancels class...even in the most extreme of weather. The warm, kind mommy in me wants to call him in sick and let them both enjoy a 'free day'. Sensible mommy says that that is wrong. Sigh...what to do. :hi:

I'm sorry to hear about your car....one of the joys of being able to walk to work. :P

It seems like several of our local lines are good, the railway between here and London is excellent.

36. Morning mason!
The train journey was actually so pleasant. I'm wondering if I can work out a way of doing it every day. Much better for the environment! The only bit I have to work out is the couple of miles from work to the station in Wellingborough.

38. That's the problem with public transport.
Cars can always go door-to-door.

Would cycling be a possibility?

I know that some stations have places where one can leave one's cycle over-night so that one doesn't have to take it on the train with one.

Taught my night classes and then came home and worked and now it's time to go to my 8 a.m. class.

But I'm done at 12n and will come home and take a nap with my kitties.
