Do you turn the microwave OFF before you open it?
I caught my wife just popping the microwave open the other day and I had to stop her

What are you doing?

(now this wasn't fair-she looked at me in the "WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT" way) and then said

WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

You just opened up the microwave without turning it off.

Well it went on from there.

My mother has a microwave without an OFF button.

I'm sorry I learned from the get go on these things to turn them off before opening them. You can't engineer around radiation being released so don't even try posting that BS on this thread.

9. FReakin' refs threw that UVa UNC game last night
I didn't watch it but they probably did. The ACC still loves Dean Smith so much that they tell all the refs to throw the game to UNC. Happens every year.

27. I agree. The only thing they didn't do is let them score 100.
I laughed hard when I saw them trying so hard to get to 100 and not getting it.

That was the only good thing about that game. x(

34. eUNiCe is just clicking on all cylinders now
where earlier they were not. Couple that with a piss poor performance last night, UVA had no fucking chance.

2. Ummmm
99.999% of the microwaves manufactured in the last twenty years have got a safety device that turns off the MW source before the door opens:shrug:

Sometimes I hit the off button, other times I just open the thing.

3. yes
Yes I wait. I still don't stand in front of them while they are in use either. I guess it's still paranoia from being around them in the early 70's. I still don't like food cooked in them either. Just doesn't taste as good.

6. pre-heating? hmmm. I'd think that might be bad for the magnetron,
but you'd hope they engineer in something for that.

13. I always pre-heat with a wet cat in it
Gets some moisture in the air as well as helps to warm the oven up before cooking.

7. HAhaha
That's funny.

We had to buy my mom a hot plate in the off chance that we might get a HOT MEAL at her house.

I very delicately informed her that I would like my food hot and I swear to god when we sat down at the table she said, "You might want to wait a minute or two and let your food cool"

:banghead:

It was an accident. He thought he hit just the timer. He didn't he set the microwave on high for 10 minutes. :scared: He was only 59 at the time.

35. I lived near Reading
but I remember we got a warning about the problems and that there was a possibility that we may have to leave the area. It was probably when they were worried that the containment building might explode. We weren't in a zone for immediate evacuation but it was scary enough. My cousin Kathy got married that Sat while all this was going on and I remember we had a radio on during the reception to monitor what was happening at Three Mile Island.

21. Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, UP?
Most microwaves shut off automatically when you open them now. There is no radiation coming out of it if it is turned off. When you finish futzing with your food, you close the door and press START again.

My mom had an original Amana RadarRange (remember those?) And that one would not open when it was running. If you wanted to stop it mid cook time, you had to press the STOP button.

You realize this "advancement" is brought to you by basically the same people who thought asbestos was a good idea.

Hit OFF then open it.

"The gonads, the primary reproductive organs, are the testes in the male and the ovaries in the female. These organs are responsible for producing the sperm and ova, but they also secrete hormones and are considered to be endocrine glands."
