David Sedaris is, quite possibly, the funniest author ever...with the
exception of Erma...who will always be exhaulted in this mom's heart. But David Sedaris books can be read over and over again and still make me laugh out loud. Although, I confess, when he talks about his dad kicking him out of the house, his mother crying, and he, himself, not realizing it was because he was gay I find myself a little sad. :hi:

1. Me Talk Pretty One Day is awesome!
Also, check out The Areas of My Expertise by John Hodgman - it is a riot.

2. I also like "Dress Your Family in Corduroy"...
When he talks about his father, the man really comes to life. And his mother is beyond laughter in that book. :)

4. Eh I wouldn't put Hodgman in the same league

I read "Areas of my expertise" and I thought it was funny yes but at times completely silly. Not funny just silly. Sedaris writes of actual events not completely made up scenarios.

6. It's hilarious watching other people reading Sedaris
I saw a few at the beach recently. They're reading and laughing their asses off behind their books. Made me want to ask them what part they were on.

7. I totally agree with
you MrsGrumpy. As I matter of fact I just got finished re-reading all his works.

I had the pleasure of meeting/chatting with him while he autographed my book. He's a gracious, shy man in person.

I too cried reading about him being kicked out of the house. Many of his stories are bittersweet. I'm glad he and his father reconciled.

And his sister Amy is a hoot too!
