Oscar night question - Why is there so little talent on the right?
Seems all they can do is scare people not encourage people to grow and flourish.
Maybe best summed up by Clinton when he said "When people think they vote Democrat"

2. Because they are too close minded to be creative. It is all about
fear - fear of change, fear of individuality, fear of intellect, fear of science.

5. because movies are often about being creative
and thinking about things not ordinary. or putting the ordinary in a way one may not always think of.

conservatism often prevents this. remember, they are afraid of change or something different. just like the evolution thing. they can't stand the thought that God didn't create them and that we came about as a result of evolution.

7. They Are Talented But They Don't Push Their Creative Limits
Edited on Sun Mar-05-06 10:25 PM by Crisco
Think Bruce Willis. Ray Ramano. Clint Eastwood is very talented but only in the last few years would anyone say he's taken real risks.

And when they do, they give us something like Vincent Gallo's "Brown Bunny."

I seen 16 Blocks yesterday and the movie was very intertaining except for the acting of Mr. Willis.

8. In order to be a successful actor,
You have to have imagination and empathy. You have to be able to put yourself into someone else's shoes and think and behave and become that person. How can a typical conservative do that while "looking out for number one"?

10. Conservatives hate change and won't take chances
and that means that most of them who act do the same roles, over and over again, with only a change of costume and scenery to tell you it's a different flick. Some are only predictable; others are downright wooden.

There are a few glaring exceptions out there, and Robert Duvall always leaps to mind as one of the best character actors the industry has ever shown us.

However, by and large, conservatives are too timid to take the chances that lead to great art.

16. You've nailed it well.
Creativeness without risk taking doesn't see the light of day.

A director wants a dry blue paint to put on an actor w/o poisoning him; a 7 foot shark on the 6th of July; 1940's Christmas wrap in August 2000; ripe, juicy peaches in January. You figure out how to do it - safely, on time and with a backup plan for the inevitable. It's stressful, exhilarating work.

I'm no longer in the 'biz' and the lack of those traits in bosses and co-workers I deal with is aggravating. Then again, they find me abrasive & demanding. :banghead:

13. I think it's because the old studio system died off...
They were channeled into a career.... A lot of theold style actors were consrevatives...

And then when freedom came to Hollywood, they all vanished.... Couldn't seem to put it together....

17. Been saying it for years - conservatives hate the arts.
Why do you think that, when conservatives start cutting education budgets, the arts are almost ALWAYS, (like 9 times out of 10), the first to go?

"Conservative" thinking is almost by definition, the opposite of learning.
