Poll question: Is the moon American?
We put a man on the moon 1969. We planted our stars and stripes. Is the moon officially American now? And if so, doesn't that justify the Star Wars program? I would certainly say so.

1. I'm not sure...
I really think there's some kind of bizarre hands-off UN policy or something regarding how no country can "claim" the moon.

Of course, all that will be thrown out the window when the next humans get there. The Chinese will have no problems establishing their lunar foothold.

3. Fuck them
It's our moon. We got there first. The Chinese might use the moon to hide WMD. I cannot stand for that.

5. God must be American.
I never doubted that. I just think our colonization of the Galaxy and possibly the universe should begin in earnest.

What year is this? 2006? Oh. Okay. Um, might makes right?

7. Of course
If we can get to the moon and no one else can, then it's our moon. But it's also our right to defend our property. If some non-American mofo tries to land on our moon, we should blast them out of space.

15. "Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the moon..."
“Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the moon, July 1969. A.D. We came in peace for all mankind.”

Though several flags of the Soviet Union and the United States have been symbolically planted on the moon, the Russian and U.S. governments make no claims to any part of the Moon's surface. Russia and the U.S. are party to the Outer Space Treaty, which places the Moon under the same jurisdiction as international waters.
