I can't believe I'm watching this .....

But, since I am, here's my 2-centsworth.

Still love Taylor, Chris, Elliot, Katharine, Mandisa, and Paris.

However, the every-creepy Ace kicked ass last night.

I have no idea why they put him on the show this year, except for maybe comic relief.

And someone with a voice out of the Motown style is gone. I think Kevin is getting a lot of youngsters to vote. :-(

will watch. 2 years ago it was John ___ something, the red-haired high school student who tried to be a crooner. Last year it was Scott Savol, the obese and kind of ugly guy (who did, though, have a good sounding voice). I think they intentionally plant some real oddballs on the show just so people will watch and love/hate.

It's cool to see the nerds get a little time in the sun.

I'm sure there are a lot of people who can't believe Taylor is still in there (even though he can sing) just because he doesn't "look" the part.

At least Anthony could sing a little. I'm one unhappy Idol watcher tonight.

I can remember only Ayla and Gedeon. I saw Ayla a few times (but not this week). I thought she was one of the weaker candidates. Gedeon seemed somewhat in the middle in talent -- I thought he would last longer. Did he have a bad performance last night?

...Kelly Pickler. Last night Simon called her a "naughty little mynx" and she had no idea what that was and later said she got called a "mink". She may be dumber than Britney.

Kellie doesn't seem like the brightest bulb. She's kind of cute, but not as attractive as Carrie - she'll have to get by on her voice's personality.

And last week Bucky said he was just gonna starve cause he couldn't understand the menus in L.A. and there were no chicken n dumplin's. As the show was closing Ryan said "We're taking Bucky out for some spicy tuna rolls!"

And it's the earliest point at which someone I voted for left. I thought they got it right with the girls. Melissa is a little better than Ayla. Also, as a side note, Ayla's father is a REPUKE state Senator from Massachusetts.

Right now, my top 3 from each group:

Girls - Mandisa, Katharine, Paris

Guys - Ace, Bucky, Taylor (though I liked Elliott's performance this week)

As of now, I think Ace will be in the final two. With the girls, it's a toss up. It will come down to performances. I have a big crush on Katharine and she proved her talent by holding her own with an Aretha song. But Mandisa has the most powerful voice, and would also be a good winner. Also watch out for Kellie, who seems to be a Simon favorite (more likable voice than Carrie's but maybe not as strong.) And you can't count out Paris.

Simon was right just before the Hollywood show....he annoys me.....

I was shocked Ayla got bumped after Melissa got ragged on for her performance by Simon, but I think she was going out soon anyway. The local news station showed all these people at a bar in Weymouth rooting for her (Weymouth really isn't that close to the Rhode Island border, but anyway). They were all "wicked pissed" she lost. I get the feeling she can't believe she lost and that the other girls weren't all that unhappy to see her go.

Gedeon was a fave of mine. America messed this up big-time. I think we'll still be hearing from Gedeon in the future.

He's got talent and personality, and I thought he rocked the house Wednesday night with "Takin' It to the Streets" (and if he grew facial hair, he'd even look like Michael McDonald). Mandisa's my fave girl right now. Simon might have made fun of her size, but I think her spirit's even bigger.

Ace, however, comes across to me as having studied how to be a teen-pop star before he auditioned for Idol. The whole thing regarding his beanie hats sounds like something you'd read in Tiger Beat or some other pre-teen girl magazine. His song choices are kind of "girly" in my opinion too (George Michael, Daniel Bedingfield, and Michael Jackson all appealed, or continue to appeal to young ladies, or at least they were marketed to young ladies.)

I don't really care for Bucky, however. He seems very one-dimensional, and doesn't really have the personality to be an American Idol. I kind of laughed before a break, when Ryan said "Bucky's going to do some country!" Bucky always does country (well he did Lynyrd Skynyrd the first week of eliminations, and Skynyrd's southern rock, which I consider a cousin to country music). And I do like some country music, so don't take that as anti-country bias, you country fans.:)

He's just so quirky I can't help but really like him!

They are pushing people to vote for the worst contestants....in this case Kevin. They took alot of credit for pushing Scott Savol to the top 5 last season.

She couldn't sing Stevie, but not many could. However, she's this years Carrie Underwood, will get huge babe points, and will most likely make it to the Final 4.

Kellee is ok; she maybe kinda out there but no one should be slamming her here for her lack of knowledge. Her mother left; her dad's in jail and her grandfather raised her by himself. The "vapid" ppl upthread need to shut up. She's doing damn well considering what she came from.

Bucky is not that good but is a nice guy. Pretty sure he'll be voted off soon. Not much personality.

Paris is the granddaughter of a gospel great and INCREDIBLE at 17. She's going places and seems to have a great head on her shoulders. Can't wait to see what she does in her sure-to-be-long career.

CHRIS is a GREAT guy who fronted his own band here for a few years before doing this. They performed at a club my husband dj'd at several times. I have the cd; the website is absentelement.com. Chris has been cut out of the photo (prob. temporary) but the cd still features him. He is faithfully married to a lady with children by someone else; and is always talking about how much he cares about them. He's going far and I am so excited to see what this kind of exposure is going to bring for him.

For some reason we seem to be growin' them ok around here--for the moment. I would not be watching except for the fact that we knew Chris's band before this.

Melissa McGhee was voted off tonight

I think a lot of people vote for him as a goof. I really like Katherine and Elliot. Poor Elliot is rather unfortunate looking, but what a voice! If I could create my favorite male contestant, I'll morph Ace and Elliot. B-)

One more suited for Broadway instead of Top 40 radio, I'll admit. He's definitely not marketable. But I can see him having a career on Broadway in 10-15 years.

I know the producers admitted in the past they intentionally screw with people when elimination time comes. Seems to me the idea of two people you wouldn't expect on the verge of ouster having to sweat builds the drama whereas the two I thought would be up there with Melissa (Kevin and Bucky) might have resigned themselves to the idea of going out.

by making the popular contestants look like they got few votes, it encourages people who might not vote to call in.

I agree that the producers might mess with the results. They do the same things every year by putting someone you wouldn't think would be in the bottom three there.

Kevin is this years Scotty. He has no right to be in the top 12 and he doesn't get voted off even when it's well deserved. My husband says he's heard of a group that is dedicated to voting for the worst singers each week just to screw with the results. And from the look of things, he may be right.
