on edit: my CD says "from," even if dylan's website says "of." Either way, it's a great song. For fuck sakes (or fucks sake or whatever :rofl:)

on 2nd edit: a different Dylan CD says "of," so I feel fully justified in my choice of prepositions.

It is one of my favorite Bob Dylan tunes. I also love "Isis."


I married Isis on the fifth day of May,

As an aside, I was looking at lyrics to Isis on Bob Dylan.com and there is a whole verse missing, so I don't know how accurate the other songs are.

About the lyrics: I'm not sure how much the versions differ lyricwise--I have the live version on Biograph, and all the verses from that version are included in the lyrics at bobdylan.com, though some of the individual words are different. I'll have to buy Desire again to hear the original version :)

On Girl of/from the North Country, the CDs in my collection show it both ways, so I figure either is okay :)

how dylan changes tempos and chords & bands & stuff. same thing with lyrics. It doesn't really matter if one or two words or whole verse change the song is the thing.
also, I have always thought that Isis was one of his best stories.

sometimes the changes that he makes are as interesting to study as the lyrics themselves, as in the many different versions of Tangled up in Blue :D
