I had myself all worked up to be butch with power tools, and . . .
the got damned cat door is too effing big!!

I was going to hire someone to do it, but I read a "how to install a pet door" on line and thought, "I can do that." And I found a good hacksaw for not too much, and that and the other tools I needed totaled less than we were willing to pay some handyman.

But I just went out to start the job, and held the template up to the outer wall of the sun room, and the cut out fits just right but the outer frame of the door will be too big!!

I am bummed!

Please comfort me. Whine.

2. I'll still do it, when the new, smaller, cat door arrives... but Mrs. V.
is in Tennessee, and I wanted to surprise her when she got home.

So I will have to be content with rearranging the bedroom and cleaning house. How boring.

 TY, Lizziegrace.

You realize we have to revoke your lesbian credentials now?

Power tool problems? Sadly, we have to kick you out of the tribe.

5. Hey, it doesn't sound so bad.

You didn't cut a big honking hole in the door and THEN check the template. Good first effort, I'd say. Do you think those handymen got everything right the first time? :-)

Measure twice, cut once really is the gospel. I didn't "join the faith" until my third trip to buy wood for the same project.:dunce:

8. Oh, yeah, I've heard of "measure twice cut once"
Edited on Sat Mar-11-06 05:41 PM by bertha katzenengel
but I always thought it referred to a bris

Okay, that was really bad, but when I try to be funny in real life, I go off the top of my head. Why should I try to be different on line?

And your third trip for the same project . . . You learned, didn't you?

17. Excellent point.
One wonders how often they've had to do when they visited some hapless homeowner with a problem.

18. We adopted him last Sunday...
His name is "Harley" so we tagged on Rufus... Rufus Harley. He's ADORABLE!! Already follows me around the house like a puppy and sits behind me when I work. He sleeps with us and snores and he's damn cute. 10 months old, was a rescue who had been living for the past 8 months in a foster home with 20+ other cats. His foster mom was so happy someone finally adopted him that she cried. People are stupid not to have adopted this little scamp... but I'm glad no one else got him because he owns us now :)

Here he is sitting behind me in my chair earlier this week:
