Let us now discuss:CHIPOTLE
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 09:00 AM by underpants
This is much more alarming that the "Mesquite Barbecue" fad of the early 90's. They have freakin' restaurants dedicated to nothing but Chipotle now. Personally I think that those restaurants are just meeting places for this cult this flavored cult. Much like Christian Science reading rooms...but without all the reading.

Hell they even have their own pronounciation of it (chi-POAT- lee not chi-POATul).

I think we need to stop this. I don't care if I haven't every actually had anything Chipotle flavored I just know mindless conformity when I see it.

I am not bullish on Chipotle and it IS going places.

STOP CHIPOTLE NOW!!!!

2. Hell no dude.
Chipotle tabasco sauce fucking rules! And so does the chain restaurant's burritos.

You call it mindless conformity. I call it heaven.

5. YES! The Gospel According to CHIPOTLE
The gospel according to Chipotle (pronounced Chi-POAT-lay) is spreading. From its beginning in 1993 as a single 20-seat burrito joint in Denver to more than 320 restaurants in 19 states today, Chipotle is on the march. Last year, through its partnership with McDonald's, it placed on the Technomic list of America's Top 100 Chains.

15. I've been to the original one
It's this tiny place next to the University of Denver. It was delish.

Count me a member of the Chipotle army. I don't care if it is owned by McD's... at least Chipotle tastes good.

10. Chipotle is yummy...
…but you're right. The fad is getting out of hand.

PS—I think the restaurant "dedicated to nothing but chipotle" isn't what you think. They serve upscale "town" burritos.

11. The thing I find puzzling is how something "chipotle flavored"
HAS NO HEAT AT ALL. Chipotle is not Mexican for barbecue flavor. There should be at least a teensy bit of Jalapeno kick.

Just give me the restaurant!! Another long-time Chipotle fan here!! I live in the Denver area and have been going there for years! And I don't believe I've ever had anything chipotle-flavored on my burrito!

LOVE IT!! And I'm bullish about it!!

on edit: I believe the restaurant was started by a couple of awesome gay guys - that's what my sister told me.

19. I highly doubt you pronounce it correctly
Even the Mexican/Spanish langauge pronunciation really is incorrect. It's an aztec word originally, and the TL sound is one that doesn't take place normally in English. I took an Aztec Language and Culture class in college, and we had a bitch of a time just pronouncing things correctly, including many words with the 'tl' sound in it.

If you're pronouncing it chi-Poatul you're still doing it wrong. Just fyi.

Yet when I do it correctly it pisses off my wife. Then I tell her that I learned about it right before my trip to Wat-Ay-Mala where I had En-Heel-ada's and she'll usually come at me with a knife...Ah Amore'.

22. I'm going to put some in the chili I'm making for work
I have Mrs. Dash Southwest Chipotle seasoning blend. I am not sure if I should use regular chili pepper too. I also have ancho chili seasoning too. It smells rather like the chipotle seasoning.
