3. Here goes
The polls in the aftermath of the nuclear accident show that Vinich and Santos are neck and neck nationally with Santos in a strong EC position. Meanwhile the awkwardness of Will and the national security dating continues. Bartlett decides to send a force to keep Kazicstan from becoming a war between China and Russia. He calls both candidates into the office to let them know but first he discusses it with Leo. Donna and Josh start having a fling. Finally Vinick accepts the resignation of his chief campaign aide and hires that horrid woman who was featured in the episode where Bartlett runs into the tree.

9. thanks very much
Josh and Donna have been generating heat for years now, its time they get nasty. That would be a nice spinoff. The West Fling! Will and Kate could have a recurring role.

Vinnicks Chief Campaign Aide? The toolman's wife?? Just what a republican president candidate needs, advice from an insane religious zealot. Ole Jeb took her to the woodshed in that fine episode.

15. I don't think that's the same woman
Well, at least it's not the same actress. The character's name in the tree episode (which I think was the first episode, if I'm not mistaken) is Mary Marsh. Is that who this woman was supposed to be?

8. Not a whole lot
The million man armies of Russia and China are about 600 miles apart and Pres.Bartlett has to commit about 140,000 US troops right into the middle of it RIGHT NOW-starting with abut 12,000. Bartlett asks what they will be wearing as the US is not used to fighting wars in the cold... the situation room is told to look into it.

Santos has pulled at least even in every major poll including in California Vinnick's home state.

Vinnick and Santos and their staffs are called to the White House to be briefed on the Kazhakstan situation. Bartlett asks for Leo first, Leo agrees with everything Bartlett has already decided. Lillie Tomlin's character plays with Vinnick's staffs minds a little bit by leaving the door open so they can see Leo go into the Oval. Vinnick says that the $70 Billion price tag on the troop movement and long term engagement means the end to his tax cut and the end to Santos's edcuation plans.

The RNC looks to be trying to replace Ron Silver and the wife from Home Improvement on Vinnick's staff. SHE tells Vinnick that he should replace her with the woman from the RNC to get the bible thumpers to show up for the campaign.

Donna and Josh lock lips at the beginning of the show and she ends up purposely leaving her room key for him to pick up but someone else at the table sees it first and takes it to her ...but Josh now knows how she feels about him.

Oh and Vinnick has a cold.

It was titled "The Cold"

11. AHA!
So the show will end on Mother's Day with Jeb launching nukes at Russia and China. The ole big bang finale. Josh has been hot for Donna since he hired her long ago. Republican have to rely on the relgiously insane for success. I like that message. I wonder what the cold is all about. Significance?

thanks very much for the synopsis.

13. I think "The Cold" referred to both
Vinnick being sick (BTW they hinted at Santos being sick on one of the last episodes before this) see he can't show that he is sick or his age will become a factor.

also Bartlett asking about the troops' outerwear. Kazhakstan in on th e50th parallel and it starts snowing there in October and doesn't stop until June- I learned so much last night.

OH and if you didn't see it about guess who is going to be showing back up?

14. I think Rob Lowe
should have stayed on the show but you make your own bed. however, his leaving resulted in Will Bailey, a fine character especially with the borderline extraterresterial relationship with Kate Harper. I believe Toby and Josh should have another fight. And Margaret and CJ in a lesbian trist. And of course, Donna, nude, very nude. And Bingo Bob holding Santos hostage. I never could figure out why they never hired me as a writer.

17. Only if Danny gets in on that CJ/Margaret trist
Come on, the man bought her a goldfish for crying out loud. And when in the history of the world has a fucking goldfish lived for 7 years in tiny bowl. Those things die after a few weeks, maybe a year if you really take care of it (like CJ as press secretary of COS for POTUS has the time for this).

I'm all for a very nude Donna (Janel Moloney is such a babe). But only if its in a lesbian trist with with Mary Louise Parker.

19. Yeah, something's real fishy
about that golfish. Maybe Danny could write a story about the fling and bring a photographer with him. And maybe that sweet little doll who was Toby's assistant could accidentally walk in. West Wing Pay Per View.

23. maybe it's actually Gail's friend!
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 06:54 PM by Lisa
At times there have been 2 goldfish in that bowl. (I guess the people on the show figure that the viewers aren't buying the thing about Gail living that long, so they fool around with the ornaments in the bowl, just as a self-referential gesture ...)

http://users.macunlimited.net/n.monks/gail.html

Another internet source (which I can't find at the present) claims that the goldfish has indeed been replaced, but only a few times since the show began, and not as frequently as one might expect, given how tiny that bowl is (perhaps they drop an aerator in when the camera's not on it?).

22. for some reason, I'm imagining Bingo Bob playing that scene ...
... as if he were that scheming VP in "My Fellow Americans" -- kind of based on Dan Quayle -- who claims that his apparent stupidity is "a clever facade" (he pronounces it "fakade").
