Should I do that Journal thing?
I will if you say I should, but if not, I won't.

Would it benefit anyone? Or would it just be time invested in an ego-booster?

I'm counting on you guys to be honest, because time is at a premium with me lately. But I'll put in that time if it would do some good for anyone. I will decline to do it if there's no benefit to anyone.

I'm trusting you all on this, because you (both individually and as a group) are more savvy than I am about this kind of thing. Your advice is hereby solicited and will be accepted without argument or judgement.

5. You have interesting things to say.
I can tell by your posts -- you're very effective at communicating your thoughts. Also, you seem to project some righteous anger at times, which I consider a good thing.

2. Honestly, it's good to put all of your important posts in one place...
and interesting stuff like your photos. For instance, if I wanted to see that photo of you standing in various places in your living room, I could just go to the journal and easily find it.

But, to post in it, you have to post on-thread in DU, and then you can add those posts to your journal. You can't just post in your journal.

Yeah, I think you should start one. Really, the only time involved is setting it up, and that's minimal. Then you just click a link at the bottom of your post to add it to your journal.

6. I did it, but I am starting to wonder...
if there will end up being a point--it seems that if everyone does it, who is going to bother reading them when they can just read the posts elsewhere?

11. I think the point is that you can see what someone whose posts you like
has had to say lately, without having to do a laborious search. Which, to me, would seem to be a good "community-building" feature to add to DU.

Anyone would be welcome to correct me if I'm mistaken about this.

9. I think you should
You have posted many threads that I've seen that have started some really interesting discussions, and as was mentioned above, your righteous anger can be inspiring. And besides, then you could link the commies post so people could know what the sam hell we're talking about, ever. Hrm. Maybe we don't want that, after all ;)

:hi:

14. But they NEED to learn about the Commies, don't they?
I think they do, for their own good if nothing else.

You've been my most stalwart friend and loyal companion in my DU journey, so your opinion counts for much...I guess I'll do it since you said I should.

But it will have to wait for a few days...don't tell anyone, but the recent fevers I alluded to turn out to have a sinister and ugly source. Seems I picked up some variety of rogue Staph infection that settled in the site of my last shoulder surgery, and it's spreading out now and again into the rest of my body. Let's hope (and fervently) that the latest wide-spectrum antibotics-of-last-hope will knock it down.

It's not like I can get my arm amputated up to my neck to remove the site of the
infection. Not that I'd let that happen.

But don't tell anyone, OK? I don't want anyone to worry.

And dammit, dude, you're not *allowed* to get sick like that. I will come down there personally and kick the staph's ass for you. Please? Oy. All crossables crossed that the antibiotics are enough to kick this one. *worried*

19. God damn, I didn't mean to get you worried.
I need to learn when to shut up.

It's not a problem. Want to hear something that will tell you how old I am? I was number (less than thirty) to survive childhood leukemia, back in the late 1960s.

If I could beat that then, I can beat anything now.

I'll be fine. But thanks for your concern.

25. Dude.
You are my friend. You are sick, and I will worry about you. Don't you dare fucking apologize or shut yourself up because of it. Ok?

Wow on the leukemia. You're one hell of a fighter, man.

Love and hugs to you, even if you harrumph at me for it ;)

30. I would think that one "hopeful post" of yours
would be a timeless classic. So you would not need to do that much work at the start.

So far, though, I am not reading very many journals.
