"The Fresh Market" how great *IS* it?
One opened here in Richmond. I passed it last weekend during the Grand Opening and mentioned it to my wife. She went back the next day and just thought it was WONDERFUL!!!!

Seems to be a family-owned and privately held company.

The Fresh Market opened its first store in Greensboro, N.C. in 1982. It was the fulfillment of a dream for our founders, Ray and Beverly Berry, to provide a unique and wholesome grocery shopping experience. Their goal was to offer customers high-quality perishable products in a warm and friendly atmosphere with a high level of customer service.

The Fresh Market currently operates more than 50 stores in the Southeast and Midwest, with plans for continued expansion into areas that desire the old-time value of our store in their community.

This family-owned, privately-held company is committed to their founding goals: to provide a unique and wholesome shopping experience at a reasonable price and to a be a destination for those who enjoy cooking and good eating!

not any small family owned business, that is for sure, do not be fooled

the prices are damn scary

but it's fun to go in and mingle w. the super-rich while they shop

3. Rather expensive.
Really nice stuff and some items hard to find elsewhere. I find the one here in Spartanburg SC rather snooty, it's on the old money side of town, even the bag boys seem to have an attitude.
