It's obviously painful for the animal. How could you stand to watch it? Can you imagine how it must feel when the adhesive tape is removed.

Without looking I guessed this was the tape the side of the cat and watch it walk funny. This has been debated before here on DU with a big split between funny and cruel.

Much of cat's fur is loose, ready to be shed, and this does not hurt them. I would write more but got seriously flamed and told I was going to cat hell and a bad person and an evil person, etc etc etc for stating what I just did and telling about being a vet tech and having to remove tape off a cat's fur after surgery. So I won't. peace

Friend, you have a warped sense of humor. The cat is obviously trying to minimize its discomfort - and if most of its fur is loose, that leaves the rest that's not ready to be shed.

Everyone else, please don't encourage this abuse - stay away if you have any empathy for another life form.

So unless he's being groomed, he doesn't get touched - and he loves the soft brush. As you can see from the accompanying photo, he's a contented fellow.

no guard hairs? must be really soft, does he get tangles? I had 1 fuzzy cat once that got the worst tangles.

14. Not with regular grooming, no.

And yes, he's silky soft but also extremely sensitive. His companion Natasha is made of sterner stuff - her back is nothing but bristles. So she chases him through the house and all is well - they go tumbling across the floor.

12. I remember that debate well ;-)

I put a thin strip of scotch tape on my Crow cat, the oils on his fur kept it from adhering, he walked weird and hated it, so I took it off, then he wanted me to pet him more. :crazy:
