I have been banned from working at our upcoming Home Show Expo.
My husband (along with two other guys) owns a home theater company, and they're hosting a booth at the Home Show, in a couple weeks. They NEED help with it, and I and another wife were supposed to go assist. They were ordering shirts for us with the company's logo (I've wanted one for a while, anyway,) and I was supposed to get a babydoll tee-style one (not some too-small, too-tight one, mind you). Apparently, one of the co-owners threw a FIT about it, and said I can NOT wear a babydoll tee, and now I'm not allowed to go! WTF?! My husband has had issues with this guy before. Apparently he's rather ashamed of his own wife and for that reason, I am not allowed to be present if she's there, unless I'm in a poncho, or something. Seriously, what a dick! I wanted to be there to help. I don't get to be involved with the business much, and I was rather looking forward to doing the home show.

4. I have seriously considered cracking out my way-too-short mini skirt
and heels and just showing up there. Seriously, I don't dress inappropriately for business stuff, and the home show is a totally casual-dress event. Whatever.

Now I don't even want to go, because he's just gonna act all wierd around me, anyway.

11. No kidding!
Not much anyone could do to stop me from showing up there, but it was my husband who told him "LARA IS NOT GOING TO GO!" because he was so mad. The third (primary) owner couldn't understand what the big deal was about me wearing a freaking baby doll shirt, either.

Does sound like boss-dude is having his own problems at home. Has Mrs. Boss met you before? She may be threatened by your babeosity.

13. Yes- the four of us went to a business- related picnic.
All I remember was yakking it up with some other women I met there- I actually met some really cool gals. The "other wife" is rather ineffeminate and antisocial (quite the opposite of me), which there's absolutely nothing wrong with, but perhaps she has a problem with ME.

7. What's a trade show without "booth babes"?
Who needs to know you're the wife of one of the owners? Why does it even matter?

This guy has some insecurity issues he needs to deal with.

Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 05:00 PM by underpants
I have had bosses and organizations who purposely got the best looking women they employed/knew/ran into to work events.

This guy hates capitalism and therefore HATES AMERICA!! I think Lara should go to that show! GO and stand up for America!!! and post pics afterward.

:eyes: I can show up there, but I can't work there. It's not like I was going to wear a bikini and heels. It's ridiculous.

17. He already screamed and swore at the guy. The tactic was amazingly
ineffectual. :P The whole reason I can't go is because my husband said I was NOT going unless I could wear what I wanted to, and the other owner wants me to wear a polo shirt.
#1: I don't "do" polo shirts.
#2: The only size they have is much too small for me. Wearing THAT would be obscene.

20. suggestion:
wear the polo, stuff your bra (not that you need to ((i don't know)) :hide: but make them Dolly Parton big) AND twist it up so your navel shows proudly. get a stick-on tattoo (if you don't have a real one around your navel already) and ask the asshole how he likes your new tattoo.

chin up, walk tall

19. Good God, where do you live? Harper Valley?
Jesus.

You should see my "Sweet Jesus I hate Bill O'Reilly" baby doll t-shirt.

It's tight.

So, while men are staring at my chest, they HAVE to see what I think of O'Reilly.

Michael bought it for me; I love it!

22. I know. It's utterly ridiculous.
I feel sorry for his wife, if this is really HIS issue. I mean, if he's so ashamed of her, as my husband insists, that he doesn't want her next to anyone she might be compared to, that's just a horrible comment on how he regards her.

Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 05:32 PM by blondeatlast
I'm not an unattractive gal myself, I like to look good and I put a little effort into it.

I've encountered a similar situation.

I'm willing to bet that the other Mr. has mentioned to the other Mrs. that she should dress more like you or something similar.

I was friendly (hardly friends) with the other Mrs., we chatted nicely though we never saw each other away from work related settings.

I mean, the change her reaction was like the difference between late afternoon to 11:59 PM.

30. If it were me, I would...

wear the way-too-short mini skirt with some kick-ass boots and the baby-doll tee... and hang out talking shop at the competitor's booth.

THAT'LL learn him to dictate where you can go and what you can wear.

Ha!
