I was looking for a thread because I figured someone would have beaten me to it. One reason I don't date anyone in the military is because 1) they could be killed in an unecessary war; and 2) having to fake support for a phony war or risk being ostracized.
It is hard enough having to bite my tongue around my brother in law, who just joined the Air Force (at age 35). He joined up basically because they said they would pay for his advanced degree in meteorology and keep him in that field. Well they have already reneged on that. He is doing some computer stuff (well he did write the program that the AF uses so I guess they need his help- good to at least not be sent to the Middle East).
my husband is in Iraq and I would have said exactly what she said in that situation. I actually avoid those kinds of gatherings with women in my husband's unit (there are no women in his unit, so no men left behind, presumably) because I know I would lose it...
