Ever play bottlecap soccer with your cat?
Oreo has invented a new game. It's just like tabletop football, but using the cap from a plastic soda bottle! Damn, I wish I had a camera!

1. I bet that's seriously cute
All Lucy likes to play is "Faster, Pussycat! Kill, Kill the Shoelace!"

Ever see that old newsreel footage of the cat playin' ping pong? That'd be so cool.

2. Binky does the shoelace thing, too.
And if I have on my leather shoes, she goes nuts. Something in the taste, I guess.

Roo was a fantastic baseball player. I tied a large jinglebell on the end of a long string, thinking I'd just drag it on the floor. Instead, he reached up and swatted the thing. Several times. It was one of his favorite games. (He was so cool - a dog in feline form.)

3. Lucy used to bat at stuff
but she lost interest in that.

Hey, y'know those big Cat Entertainment Centers where they can crawl through stuff and kip in crannies and stuff? I was thinkin' yesterday of makin' one for Lucy, but I dunno what they're called, so I dunno how to google a photo of one to get ideas.

WTF... maybe they are called Cat Entertainment Centers.

11. Actually, the idea started
as stacking cardboard boxes, duct-taping 'em together and cutting strategic holes between 'em.

I'm gonna go sleep now. You be good to you, k? :loveya:

16. Neighbor built a great one for dogs & cats!
He had 2 tiny poodles and married a woman who had taken in 3 cats. He made a very heavy plywood box for the base and that was the dogs' 'fort'. Several shelf levels and cubbies
above for the cats. The dogs would 'hide' and the cats would do the commandos coming down ropes from helicopters thing and try to take the fort. It was hysterically funny to watch.

The heavy base was a fine idea as the cats were young and VERY active. They needed a firm anchor. After the twice daily assault on Fort Poodle, everybody found a spot on the contraption and took a nap. Ah, peace!

took strange interest in watching the bobsled events on the tellie. Jay was trying to convince us 'the girls' were going to compete. Called them Team Poodle for months. Strange man.

21. Not my husband, neighbor and his bride was a neighbor too
I am trying to ge Havocdad to build a cat condo like Jay built. Only one cat in our home, but SHE moves furniture. Figure we'll need to keep the thing upright.

Oh, were you the guy with the foot thing? Was tryin' to remember which one of the DU reprobates that was when I re-posted that pic last night

You'd be amazed what toes can do  Come to think of it, maybe you would be the one person around here who wouldn't be surprised at all ;) Lets just say, I usually wear shoes that are easy to kick off and I LOVE restaurants with floor length tablecloths heh heh heh

I wasn't a Lizard then. Come to think of it, that's about when my "sabbatical" from DU began.

Anyway, some toes are cute. Others aren't. It's about that simple.

10. he is a big boy
He was a reserve test cat .I saved him from being iced.
He was bred for animal testing so he is quite quite healthy.
He also loves to tear up toilet paper rolls.
Every once in a while we will move a piece of furniture and find like 8 to 10 bottle caps hidden.
We call it Obies secret stash

9. I prefer to play R/C car tag with my best friend's cats.
I use Zip/Zaps. I used to take turns chasing them and getting chased, until they realized that they could flip the cars over. Now they only chase and pounce.

14. Felt furniture pads, laser pointers, string, pink marabou
We got a sheet of felt furniture pads to go on the feet to protect the floor... but about a third of them had no sticky left. Angel plays with them, and since everything's up off the floor now, she can't really stash them away.

Angel has string that she will bring to anyone she thinks will play with her. It's funny to watch her bring it to new people in the house as an offering.

She also has a piece of hot pink marabou attached to a string and stick that she drags around.

Fuzzy will play with about anything (and this includes glue sticks, dead spider plant leaves, straws) but his one true love is the laser pointer. I had to go buy a carpet for the living room so that Fuzzy could play with his laser. The wood floors are too slick for him, and he wouldn't chase it if he didn't have traction. (and he needs the exercise.) The look in his eyes when he discovered the laser and the carpet was priceless.

18. Lizzie loved to play with bottle caps
She had a sixth sense about them, especially whenever I opened a bottle of Coke. I would set the bottle cap on the coffee table, well away from the edge so she couldn't see it. She'd come up just under & beside the table. I'd see her two little ears poke over the top of the table, then go back down. Then I'd see her little nose peek up over the side & go back down again. She would then repeat the ears. That was my cue to clear anything off the coffee table that might spill (like my Coke) because a few seconds after the ears made their repeat appearance, **WHAP** went Lizzie's paw, smacking the bottle cap & knocking it clear across the room. Every once in a while when I cleaned up, I'd find little stashes of bottle caps.

I had to put her down this past August. None of my other cats like to play with bottle caps.

29. Aww.... sweet Lizzy!
They literally stalk the thing, don't they?

Oreo puts her paw on the cap right away, then sits there until she thinks I'm not watching. And if I dare put my finger on it, she bats me away. I even caught her doing a version of the shell game, hiding it beneath one paw, while pretending to slap it with another. :)

Dogs can't do THAT. :D
