My wife is laughing at me. Make her stop.
She was digging through one of our closets and found one of those "Magic Eye" books, you know, the things with the hidden pictures buried in what at first glance looks like colored sand. I have tried many times througout the years and have never been able to see the hidden picture, and for some reason she thinks this is hysterical.

Am I the only one?

Can anyone here get her to stop laughing and pointing out that even her nieces and nephews (oldest of which is eleven) can do this?

I need help here.

6. Couldn't bring myself to do that, so I'll keep up my practice of
driving her insane for my amusement: whenever she does laundry, I take a clean sock of hers and surreptitiously throw it in the wash. As such, she always comes out with an odd number of socks and bitches about the "fucking dryer eating my socks." :)

I've been doing this for almost a year and she still hasn't figured out that if the dryer really WAS eating socks at that pace, she wouldn't have any left. :)

Cruel? Maybe, but her reactions to this are so funny that I can't deny myself this pleasure.

8. That is the best thing I have EVER heard!
And I can see the Magic Eye pics, but I never understood WHY anyone would WANT to in the first place, lol.

20. I assume you are not serious.
If you are - uh..... Not Cool.

WHY would you want to bring unwarranted consternation into her world???

If you reply that YOU think it's funny.........uh, yeah......

4. Does she wear glasses?
Before I got Lasik I could see them w/ ease w/o my glasses. Since Lasik it is much more difficult.

7. You can never be seen in public again.
Do everything you can to hide your shame, and hope your wife doesn't tell anyone.

Just kidding. Lots of people have trouble with those things. I can only see them half the time.

10. I'm not sure I'm worthy of life here.
Do you have any idea how I can change my identity? :)

I'm not kidding, though - I have tried dozens and have NEVER seen one. Ever. Bush would have an easier time winning a game of chess against Bobby Fischer than I would of seeing one of thise goddamned pictures.

13. Pffft. Bush could beat Bobby Fischer in chess any time he wants.
All he has to do is have the "liberal media" lie about the results of the game after the fact.

15. See? I didn't even remember THAT!
I can't do Magic Eye and I'm not up on the chess abilities of the pResident of the United States! Who do you know who's more pathetic than me? :)

17. The president.
C'mon, nothing could possibly be more pathetic than that insane evil moron, president or not.

The fact that Darth Jar-Jar got into office at all (legitimately or not) is pretty compelling evidence that god doesn't exist. ;)

18. Yes, but there's one - and only one - upside to all of this for me...
...I actually made myself laugh my ass off (unintentionally, of course) thinking about Bush moving his King pawn six spaces forward and taking Fischer's king on the first move, yelling "King me!" as he does it.

I'm serious. I'm laughing like a hyena here over that visual.

And I'm not color blind and my vision is pretty close to perfect.

It drives me nuts!

11. Read this, and let me know if it works.

I didn't read the whole thing, but the first few paragraphs should suffice. Then let me know how if works!

14. It never ceases to amaze me how
every time someone posts even the slightest problem, no matter how trivial, someone invariably does what you just did and posts a helpful link. This is the most well-informed forum on the planet.

I'll read it and try it, but not tonight. I'd rather use this as a secret weapon, so that if it works I can put this to rest. If I try it in her presence and it fails, the laughter will double because I failed even after informed research. Best done on the sly.

Thanks a million, Laheina. If we were still giving out Valentine hearts, you'd have gotten one from me for this. :)

I have decent depth perception, too.

However, one eye is near sighted and the other far sighted.

I've always thought the pictures were the products of overactive imaginations, as I have never had two people point out exactly the same shape in the same picture.

19. I think it depends on your vision.
I have a very hard time doing them. I have 20/40 vision in one eye and 20/100 in the other. Since the key to these pictures is to move your focal point, if your eyes have radically different focal points, as do mine, it becomes very hard to un-focus them uniformly, and that's what's required to see those pictures. I can do most of them, but it's difficult and seldom worth the effort.

As for making your wife stop laughing ...
