Mine is this one:

Coverdale Page - the one album I play when I really feel like blowing off steam. The last two songs on the album at full volume act like a narcotic on me when I'm in a shitty mood.

111. Yes, I realise now that the people who were alive when P. Floyd
were touring all know of them. Just didn't realise they were popular back in the day.
And the editing period had expired.

Edited on Sun Mar-19-06 10:40 AM by gmoney
I kinda prefer their debut "The Longest Day" -- "Have you forgotten?" is about the saddest damn song ever written. My signed copy of the vinyl is a prized possession. It's FINALLY out on CD, sort of buried on The Best of the Del Fuegos as the first batch of tracks. :D http://www.delfuegos.com

Funny that Warren Zanes (the younger brother of singer/guitarist Dan) is a honcho at the RR Hall of Fame with a PhD and such. Dan, in the meantime, is finally making some money doing children's rekkids.

I think after the Lawns she went to Berklee to study cello or piano or something.

When in college, we tried to book them at UC Irvine and had endless problems with the "Huntington Beach Punkers" threatening to wreck havoc. When we finally got them on campus, the punkers did follow through (I saw a bunch of them tearing about a kiosk after the show).

I saw them a number of times at the Cuckoo's Nest in Costa Mesa as well. Last time I saw them they played warm-up for the Vandals.

Great Power Pop/Metal/Punk produced by SST majordomo and noted rock theoritician Joe Carducci. Hyperactive, melodic, angular, and very very rocking. Mentioning their name usually brings up blank stares, but this album never left my Discman for months after purchase in 1999.

47. Black Lips! Beach Party! Friendship!

Ok, I know I say the Black Lips every time one of these threads comes up. And no, the record is not called "Beach Party." It's called "Let it Bloom." And I do like lots of other bands a lot of people here might not know about that I could mention. But none of those other bands have a hilarious and ridiculous picture like this one, (which is not from a record but from the band's series of Black Lips Commemorative Plates. I mean, look at it. It says "friendship" on it fer god's sake. Also, "Beach Party!"). So that's why, yet again, I'm going with the Black Lips. Plus, I just saw them again last week and they kicked mad ass. So yeah. Black Lips.

"For new listeners of this ambitious outfit, it's nearly impossible to grasp Maudlin of the Well's extreme breadth and width of musical endeavor upon one listen. In fact, the first listen to Bath can be an aggravating experience as the band winds through more musical styles than one can shake a rather large stick at. Transitions between softer, acoustic guitar passages and other warmer, fuzzier moments into a quagmire of death and aggressive doom metal may have many puzzling on just how the band got there. The simple fact of the matter is that one must dedicate several listens to Bath before honing in on the album's charm. The previously jarring transitions begin to make more sense and the album comes together as a whole."

Most of the members of this bad are now in the band Kayo Dot,and they're really hard to grasp too,but patience will reward the listener.

70. Comsat Angels -- "Sleep No More"

The 'Sats were a post-punk band who received scant attention in their 16-year career, but have proved highly influential on many 80s-90s groups.

CSA performing the title track on Dutch TV

To quote from the Trouser Press Record Guide:

Sleep No More is a tightly wound hotbed of tension, frayed edges, shattered nerves and spilled coffee. Although criticized for its bleakness, its dark and disturbing tone, this is a fascinating, underrated and often misunderstood work, ambitious rather than accommodating or immediately accessible.

74. Sunset Love
It's this nightclub band from the 1960s. They recorded an album that never got released until the vaults got cleared out in the 1990s. The guitar playing is amateur, as are some of the concepts of the songs, but they could sing decent harmony, and the damn thing grows on you like an army of earworms. (Track 5 is the best).

I guess the Permian Basin wasn't ready for psychedelic flower power. Damn shame.

Real hard to pigeonhole this one, except that "Dekoboko" is actually free-form jazz saxophonist John Zorn. I absolutely love the track My Rainbow Life and cannot recommend it highly enough to jazz fans.

The Primitives - "Lovely" pop, upbeat. Not to die for, but certainly a good one.
