Simple things make me happy, I just added my custom avatar

with the help of several DU members. I put in so many hours yesterday I thought I'd have to give up when several of you came to the rescue. My thanks to bemildred, Berserker, Maddy McCall and others. My Avatar shines. I also know what I was doing wrong. Saw it this AM. In typing the number/letter sequence, I typed exactly what I saw. personal/xxxxxx. instead of typing just jpg after the dot. I thought that since I picked jpg on the form, that I should do the complete range as shown. Just shows you, a little knowledge is very dangerous. I'm so pleased. Thanks to all. yy4me

I tried so many times to do this. I still cannot resize a picture but a DU member volunteered to do that for me when I posted my original "how to" question. I saved a photo to my desktop, then -emailed it to a very helpful member who sent it back the right size. If you can do that much, you are ahead of me. Disable any pop-up blocker while you do this)

.click on browse
.select desktop(if that is where your image is)
.click on your avatar image
.select image type(mine was jpg
.hit "upload file"

The system assigned me a letter, number sequence which I was to enter in the avatar box. This is where I screwed up. I put the whole letter/numberIt should have been the word
personal/xxxxxx.jpg
At bottom,
.Save changes Hope this helps and that I remembered all of it.
