Where do threads and socks go?
I know the dryer eats socks. That is just common knowledge.
But where do discussion threads go when they get locked?
Is there ever an explanation anywhere as to what happened and why?
It really bugs me.
First of all, when a thread is gone it's gone. It's in the memory hole. No explanation or chalk line around the
corpse. The thread didn't happen.
I guess it's the not knowing who decides to kill the discussion or why the decision is made etc.
I am only left to conjecture with my superior potential for paranoia as to just what
is TABOO on DU.
Freedom of expression comes with some pretty firm boundaries here I am thinking.
But like a dog with an electronic fence collar on...I am just getting to know those boundaries
by random shocks.
That is all. Over and out.

1. There's another way to figure out the boundaries
Read the rules:

And as far as I can tell.. You haven't had a post removed since August of 2005. So you seem to be doing okay.

Locking.
