Any Midsomer Murders fans?
I love this show if for nothing else but the scenery and houses. Midsomer Murders is on the Biography channel each Sunday. Tonight's episode is Things that Go Bump in the Night 8 CST.

For those who have never watched it.
The show is set in England where police detectives Tom Barnaby and Dan Scott are called to investigate murders that accrue around the regional community of Midsomer.

The theme music is well worth a listen as the solo instrument that produces the melody in the title music is a theremin. It was invented by Russian scientist, Professor Leon Theremin, and was first demonstrated in 1920. It pre-dates the modern synthesizer by about fifty years but its uniqueness stems from the fact that it is played without actually being touched. Its electronic circuits are controlled by two antennas, left and right of the instrument, towards which the player moves his or her hands.

1. I rather enjoy Midsomer
Although I prefer Inspector Morse, but since that show has ended its run and reruns are rarely shown, Midsomer Murders is the best mystery show on TV nowadays.

2. A few weeks ago, a post-Morse show called 'Lewis' was shown
On UK's ITV1 network. A commissioned show may arise from it.

3. I love Midsomer Murders!
I never miss it if I can help it. The scenery and the houses would be enough to hold me captive me too.

I first heard of the theremin while watching MST3K years ago. Joel played one in one of the sketches.

Here's a little video of a theremin being played. They are weird! They're the only musical instrument I know of that is played w/o being touched.

4. They have a good lineup on Sundays
I used to watch Hamish Macbeth and The Monarch of the Glen too for the same reason. They are both set in Scotland and the scenery was breathtaking.

7. Shows like this one...
makes me wish I had the money to just on a whim go the locations where they were filmed. How I would love to stroll along the streets looking in shop windows and stopping by the local pub for a pint and a steak and kidney pie.

9. Big fan
I got the first volume of DVDs for Christmas.

Now if only either BBCAmerica or the Biography Channel would start showing my favorite Brit mystery series, Dalziel and Pascoe, which isn't out on DVD, not even in the UK. :-(

I also liked Silent Witness, which isn't out on DVD either, and I'm sorry that there will most likely be no more episodes of Jonathan Creek, which unfortunately jumped the shark when Caroline Quentin was replaced by Julia Sawalha as the female sidekick.

BBCAmerica is mostly DIY shows, but their Mystery Mondays are great. This year they've done Waking the Dead, Sea of Souls, The Vice, and Conviction (not the same as the U.S. show).
