You run and you run to catch up with the sun but its sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter
never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught
or half a page of scribble lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

One of my favorite bands of all time.

2. Time
"Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way"

That is a beautiful line of poetry. Feels very true to me, as an American of English descent. Seems to fit me and my family quite well.

3. One of their best lyrics
And songs! As a die-hard fan, I should know who wrote that one but I don't. I'll assume it was Waters, since Gilmour (whose guitar work is superb) can't write a decent lyric to save his bloody life.
