Anyone here use Bare Escentuals Makeup

It's in the informericials all the time but they sell the product at Ulta here in Delaware. I needed blush and found a color of theirs that I liked but I also bought the kit for fair skin. I really love this stuff!

Anyhow else use it and have any feedback about the product

and found that it's really gentle on your skin. Good coverage for my freckles, too! I do find it a bit expensive, but it lasts FOREVER because you use so little of it. I've also found another mineral makeup that I think is just as good, but costs less. They are called Cory Cosmetics, and they do have a website at www.corycosmetics.com What I really like about them is a wider selection of foundation colors.

I might have to order some samples soon.

I actually like the texture of the Cory foundation better than BE. Other products are very comparable in their performance. If anything, the Cory colors are more intense. Have fun - Cory is a terrific lady to work with, and she gives VERY generous samples.

I tried it once and really liked it. I have a complexion that my family has always attributed to my Scottish side of my family(pale w/ ruddy cheeks and nose). BE covered it the best w/o the makeup looking caked on. And I have combination skin.

I plan on ordering soon.

I tried it before, but never got the right shade. I just ordered some more samples online, and they have come out with a new formulation for sensitive skin. The products are much less expensive than most mineral cosmetics, and they send free samples. Nice people, too.

I need to try them sometime too!

but BE recently opened a store in Manhattan, so I do shop there once in a while. QVC has better "kit" prices than you can get in the BE stores.

I had the kits delivered by auto-ship before we developed an overstock.
What I need and cannot get by mail is a variety of eyeshadow colors.

Seriously, I found some Christian Dior lipsticks that were discontinued. And they were all new items

you used to be able to get the eyeshadow "singles" from QVC too. Try item A0931 or A60735. Those are 2 I used to get new colors. I doubt the entire collection is available, but they usually have a pretty good representation.

Totally worth it. I bought mine months ago and have barely made a dent in either.

I usually buy samples on Ebay since it takes so long to go through the full sizes.

I can't tell you how many times I've bought skincare/make up and had it be the wrong color, or my skin just hates it. Hate to spend that kind of money only to throw it away.

They have pretty good pictures and descriptions of what foundations worj for which skin tones.

Then search Ebay for samples. There are some sellers who buy the full sized stuff and re-package it.

I would suggest decent brushes, but I use the Sonia Kashiuk brushes from Target and they work well.

It's a fairly heavy powder (full coverage) and ends up collecting in the fine lines. I think it's best for an oilier skin that has no fine lines.

It's also kind of drying (as are most powders). So by the time you get on all the moisturizer/primer/other crap you need to make it look smooth, you might as well save yourself the trouble and just wear a liquid foundation.

Honestly, I think that all foundations (liquid, powder, or otherwise) do this unless you use a makeup primer. I use NARS and it is absolutely incredible. I've always hated wearing foundation, and when I tried this out, it made a major difference.

If you are a gal who likes to wear makeup, a good primer is a necessary part of your arsenal, right alongside top-notch mascara and eyeliner.

So, I just think that a lot of women buy it as a lightweight 'alternative' to a liquid foundation, because they don't want a lot of gook on their face. But really in the end, moisturizer+primer+Bare Minerals=liquid foundation! So I don't consider it any 'healthier' than just wearing the liquid. They sell it as though you need the powder and nothing else, and I think that's misleading.

But if you don't mind primer, etc, I guess it's fine.

I use Neutrogena pore refining cream (which I would use no matter what makeup I was wearing) only.

That's interesting--it's probably just a difference in skin type. My skin gets very dry when I wear foundation, so I find that the primer keeps it from sucking all of the moisture out of my skin and it evens out my skin (which is far from perfect, lol).

Different strokes for different folks I guess :).

my pores. I've tried and tried (name a brand!) but it's always insta-zit for me. :shrug:

But I use a lot of glycolic moisturizer, so usually my skin is smooth.

I've tried Cory Minerals, which are much heavier. I don't have especially oily skin, but it's not dry either.

I buy it from Sephora (http://www.sephora.com). It is definitely worth the pricetag.

The tan and the medium are not quite right, so I mix them together.

Overall, I like it. It's tough to get out of clothes, if you tap too much off the brush. However, it's gentle on the skin.

I have been using it for a couple of years now. The makeup is amazing. I look like myself, just better. I have been buying it from either QVC or mail-ordering stuff from the Pier 39 location in San Francisco. I would recommend it to anyone. It takes a couple of weeks to become completely comfortable putting the makeup on with a brush, but once you master it, you'll never go back to liquid foundation. Also, the stuff lasts a long time. I've been using the same jar of foundation for a year.

I had an appointment last year with their corporate makeup artist when he visited Seattle. I learned so much. (For example, I was wearing colors that weren't helping me...) He is such a nice guy, and to say that I was transformed is an understatement.

We also are lucky enough to have had a Bare Escentuals store open 15 miles from our house, so I can indulge my habit whenever I want. Try their body care, you'll love it!

I love it and will not use anything else. I've tried a couple of other mineral makeups and always come back to Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals.

I've already got my summer "day face" down pat. #2 foundation, a little True on cheeks and chin, Summer eye glimmer, mascara, and lipgloss.

My favorite eye glimmer for night is Queen Tiffany.

Trudy is a mix of Warmth, Glee and True that was available in one of the kits sold on QVC recently. It is incredible on the skin.

I never really cared for Glee, but I might try a mixture like that.

My fallbacks are Clear Radiance and True.

It's okay, there are some colors I like, and I like the lightness of it. However, it's not as long wearing as conventional make up.

And my skin loves it, too (my "sensitivity" issues with makeup have disappeared). Their eye shadows are the best I've ever used, too. Like others here, I usually get mine on eBay; I went looking there because I needed a lighter color than what came in the initial kit (I use the 1.0 foundation).

I'm very impressed with its sun protection properties, too--I forgot to take sunscreen with me to an A's game last summer, and sat in brutal sun for four-plus hours. My arms and scalp/part got blistered--my face not at all.

There are links to other companies. I just started using the BE and I love it. I ordered samples from one other company and I didn't like it as well. I plan to try others.

I found out recently that a close friend of my daughter's interned (HS) at the company HQ. They were extremely friendly and nice to work with and treated her very well. Nice to know that a company I buy from is decent to those who work with them.

And dry. I've been happy with my tinted SPF moisturizer for years. I never wear regular foundation- too heavy. Just wondering what makes this better?

never use it and can't quite remember why i thought it was a good idea in the first place, sigh
