Can I share a pic?
At 25, I've just finally learned to drive. I finished my last lesson last week and went up to the mountains today to practice driving in rain and snow. I did a pretty good job. Anyhow, here's me parking the wagon in a really snowy parking lot to take LeftyKid sledding at the sno-park.

29. They don't teach 10 and 2 anymore because of air bags.
My eldest is learning to drive and I was surprised about that. I still drive 10 and 2. Hard habit to break.

11. My ex always thinks I'm one year older than I am.
He's under the impression that he is ten years older than I am. He is actually eleven years older. He once argued with our daughter over that.

Driving is a form of freedom. Enjoy.:applause: But, be careful. Remember to enjoy the journey. There is no place you need to rush to. And, don't let anyone else make you feel rushed.

12. I didn't learn how to drive until I was 27
Coming from and living in Boston made life quite simple without worrying about driving. But then I found myself needing to get around more and more, and finally got my license. It definitely is a freedom I needed.

What's funny is that my aunts never learned to drive at all. My mother was the one who ended up shuttling them around.

14. LeftyKid is really driving.
Don't be fooled. You see her hands at 10-2? No.

For shame!!

I kid. Again, congrats on driving in such conditions. Best to have practice in all scenarios.

19. Mostly economic reasons.
I couldn't afford a car, so there wasn't much point in spending the money on lessons and dealing with the DMV hassle as a teenager. As an adult I didn't really need one since my son's Dad was happy to take me anyplace I needed to go and I work from home. When we split we decided I'd keep the car (since I needed it to take the kid anyplace and to get groceries) and I got my permit and scheduled lessons.

18. You are indeed a Warrior Woman
Just outa boot camp and straight to the front lines? :patriot:

I drove home from Salinas in the rain today. The color is only now returning to my knuckles. I've hated driving in heavy rain ever since El Niño paid us a long, ugly visit in 1998. :scared:

But... I MISSED YOUR BIRTHDAY??

21. many don't know how important it is to know how to drive
in different weather.

people need to know how their car will behave when it's raining or any other difference such as wind. i remember driving when it was raining and windy and i drove the same as i did before for a bit but almost lost control. i was soo foolish as not to see it was because of the weather also. i thought the problem was with my car.

and congrats on learning to drive.

And I ought to know... I learned to drive at 38! I've often thought since then that the thrill of the experience is wasted on sixeen-year-olds!

28. I'm impressed with anyone who has a kid and doesn't drive -
cars do make it a lot easier. OTOH, my husband took his test when I was very pregnant ( after years of not driving since he really hates it). And I didn't buy a car til I was 27. We lived in the city and took buses everywhere for years.

Good for you! :toast:
