1. Knew a girl in high school named Astrid Storm.
She was in my driver's ed. class and dated a friend of mine.

Read any good books lately?

3. I like the name, too.
And, in case I neglected to mention, Astrid was a very lovely girl.

5. Did she have a nickname?
I am genuinely stuck on what a good nickname would be for an 'Astrid.'

8. Great. Okay. Well, if she needs a nickname, maybe
it can be formed from her middle name.

9. I only don't like the first name
the other two are cool.

Tatum reminds me too much of tantrum. Would be not fair to the kid.

Which actually sounds less dumb than Tatum, now that I think about it.

17. Yikes. It's a good thing I decided to 'vet' these names.
I am still pretty attatched to Tatum, but now I'll have some ammunition with which to talk myself out of using it in the alternate reality in which I have any babies.

14. I...can't believe it's the first one people don't like.
I guess I'll skip my lengthy, emotional post about why the first one is the most signficant to me, then. Because the 'Tatum' and the 'Delilah' who inspired it are the bravest women I've encountered. Because I don't think that would make the name any more appealing.

What is so wrong with addressing a person by his/her given name?

16. Sorry.
In RL, if a person tells me they don't like being refered to by a nickname, I won't ever do that, of course. I wouldn't do it to my kid if she disliked it. It's just a thing I do sometimes, with people who don't mind it. It's the Russophile in me.

my daughter Kate, do not care for the nickname Katie and knew I couldn't control it so I chose another name.

Meanies. You think these names are dorky or unlikeable? You should see the ones I ruled out. And the ones I'm considering if any of the children are male.

to each a) end on a different letter/sound and b) have a certain melodious harmony to them. That's important.

33. Tallulah Grace
Edited on Wed Mar-22-06 01:27 PM by Lilith Velkor
I like that.

"Tallulah Grace Hassenpfeffer (or whatever the last name is), get in the car, NOW!"

Practice that phrase with every name to see how it flows.

On edit: Tatum + Delilah = Tallulah, ya dig?
