Happy birthday, Viktor Korchnoi
Edited on Thu Mar-23-06 10:38 PM by Jack Rabbit
Viktor Korchnoi, one of of greatest chess players never to be world champion, is 75 years old today (March 23).

Candidates Tournament, Curacao, 1962

Korchnoi was twice an unsuccessful challenger to world champion Anatoly Karpov, in 1978 and 1981. He remains a strong and active competitor who dropped out of the list of the top 100-rated grandmasters only last year.
