Just got off the phone with NSMA... she got hit pretty hard today. She is taking it easy, and will be getting the medical care she needs in the meantime.

I am standing while posting this and propping my keyboard on a walker so forgive the typos.

I have a compression fracture in my spine at the lower level. I was at a complete stop when I was hit by a truck going 45. The force of the impact cause my garage door opener (which was attached to the sun visor) and my sunglasses (which were on top of my head) to fly into the back area of the car (between the seat and convertible top)..oddly enough Taz (my car) doesn't look that bad because it has a racing bumper on it that absorbed a lot of it but the truck that hit me is totalled...it's a foot shorter than it was before it hit me...


I am thankful it wasn't worse but I am just pulling through a five month long depression after dealing with everything that went on in my life including dealing with my mothers' heart condition so physical pain and pain pills don't bode well for dealing with that...my poor dog wants to go for a walk (as we've been doing at 6:30 every morning) and he's a bit bummed we can't...I'm just glad he wasn't in the car at the time..he's have probably flown through the window

I do appreciate the well wishes...i have to head off to the hospital for a cat scan soon

That is just awful. Despite the damage to the car and your injuries, I am just so thankful that you were able to survive this awful experience. You are lucky.

stopped signaling a left turn and the semi driver didn't see me. I was driving a Vega wagon, remember those? Glasses flew to the back....you have my deepest sympathies. I did eventually get a settlement that paid off all debts, bought new furniture and appliances and the down payment on our first home. There's hope. hugs from mamajones

I'm so sorry you've had to go through all this.

I have been hit twice that way but they hit me at much slower speeds and I was never hurt. It is a sickening feeling when you are looking at the rear view mirror and KNOW they can't stop and you watch them as they are about to hit the car. Totally helpless feeling! Get well!

I hope that you can find a friend to walk your dog during this time. (Maybe there's even a dog walking service that you can call.) This will take one thing off of your mind at least.

The CT scan confirmed the fracture was contained and was not a "burst" fracture. Standing is painful as is sitting...I am in bed on a laptop from work right now and bored shitless. So far, I've managed with only extra strength Tylenol as I don't want to take narcotic pain medications. This is not fun.

I do appreciate the well wishes from my friends.
