I have a phone interview this afternoon, and I have no idea what to say

A little background:

This organization is a non-profit I've been trying to get in with for about 3 years now. Lots of unreturned phone calls, emails, etc. Recently I found they were hiring in my area again, so I went on the attack. I pestered, emailed, called, faxed and pestered some more until I finally got the email addy of the Midwest region's field director. I sent him a long, plaintive email describing my frustrations. I basically said everything I could think of about why I would be such a smashing addition to their organization. I didn't expect I'd hear anything back, but figured what the hell, right?

Well, MUCH to my pleasant surprise the very next morning (my b'day, in fact! :D) I received an email from said director saying "Well, you found me, let's talk...Friday work for you?" :o

So now, as I have pretty much blown my *interview* wad as it were in the email, I have no idea what to say to dude.

Any thoughts would be appreciated! :hi:

I wish I had some advice to give you...I'm a bit rusty interviewwise, myself.

All I know is that that organization will be the better for having hired you!

Mine has no time to do the things they really need to do. They are always in crisis mode. You may want to add that you are able to access the situation of the agency and fill in the holes that they can't.

Whatever you do, don't complain about not getting an immediate response. But you can use it to point out that they need someone with your skills to take some of the load off.

I volunteered with my non-profit and ended up getting hired because I saw where they were lacking and filled the holes.

at all of my jobs anyway! :D

I didn't specifically complain about not getting a response, I did the more passive-aggressive "I realize you guys are really busy" kinda thing. ;)

It works pretty well for me most of the time.

and why you want to work for the organization, then the skills you bring to it. Likely he/she will then start asking questions. Answer honestly. Good luck!

Your persistence with them speaks volumes about your enthusiasm.
