It's 80 degrees in LA today... (PICS)
So I went for a drive up Mullholland and then for a walk in Runyon Canyon Park.

Downtown LA in the background, and the 101 freeway...

The Hollywood sign...

And some wildlife! EEEEK!

...and yes, I did get a sunburn. Oops.

1. Was the lizard doing push-ups?
They do that when they feel threatened by a bigger creature.

3. Naw,
I think that lizard was pretty used to humans. It's a really popular trail.

He scared the crap out of me though!

4. It's a...
um...lizard? I have no idea what kind.

The sky is pretty clear today. It's actually a bit hazy, so that's not all smog. ;)

:hi:

5. Threw open the windows.
It feels so good after the cold streak we've been having.

6. It's insanely
gorgeous out.

I can't complain about the "cold" streak...a week ago today I was in Nebraska. It was 20 degrees and snowing. Cold is relative!

9. Hey, I love cold weather, but I don't have the wardrobe for it.
All my cold weather clothes are in Chicago.

It's a lovely day! I'm in a tank top, shorts and flip-flops.

I loved winter, so I can only imagine how great spring and summer are. Looking forward to it!

10. We had a meeting with one of our attorneys from LA today.
He had me wanting to go back with him. Great guy. Hell of an attorney. I was tempted to ask if he needed a paralegal. ;)

Anyway, did you stop at the cutoff on Mulholland that is to the side of the Hollywood sign? That is always a neat picture - I need to scan mine...

It's gorgeous here too; just that it's 62, not 82. B-)

11. hahah
you should have asked!

I just did the section of Mulholland between Cahuenga/Ventura and Laurel Canyon. I took the Hollywood sign pic at a little parking area/observation point between Cahuenga and Runyon Canyon park.

12. His office is on Sepulveda in Van Nuys.
I told him that I was just out there.

He helped me organize my thoughts in a battle I'm about to enter with Whirlpool. He even got some nice lady at Goodyear to hook him up with a blimp ride. :D

Kick some whirlpool ass!

14. Yeah, Whirlpool's going DOWN!
:P Of course I own their products, but still...

He already played the battle ouot for me. What they'll say and how I'll respond and so forth. This is a small $ battle, so I'm using it as a training ground. Once they know I'll fight 'em for peanuts they'll know not to mess with me, dammit. :P

The only bad thing is that my car's air conditioner isn't working. Either way, I'm thrilled to be home for the time being

16. Sorry, why is 80 degrees important?
Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 08:13 PM by Random_Australian
It's not hot, it's not cold.... I don't get it!

Edit: (Exlamation removed)

Look at that smog! I do not believe my own eyes! That isn't photoshopped is it? Or was it a bad camera?

Post-script: Nice lizard, I guess...

17. Gee, if you don't like the photos and the thread
you don't have to post in it. Hide a thread is a great feature.

I'd say welcome, but there have been enough fake posts in the lounge today.

29. Didn't mean to start anything, I just get so tired of rudeness.
Great photos by the way, huskerlaw! :hi:

It was pleasant this afternoon here, but we are in for a freeze tonight. I hate running the heater, it messes with my sinuses. x(

You didn't start anything, not to worry...we've figured it out.

I hate the heater too! This is my first winter outside of the midwest and I'm proud to say I haven't turned on my heater AT ALL.

24. In fact, allow me to reword that entire post:
1) I am unaware of the usual standards of weather in L.A. I do not know of that is in a hot bit of your country or not.

2) Would you explain whether this was a "Lovely cool weather, thought I'd go for a trek" Or "Nice fine day, thought I'd go for a trek" - at 80 degrees it could be either!

25. Thanks for the rewrite...
1) 80 degrees is a bit warm for this time of year, but more to the point, it has been rainy and cold (by LA standards) for the past few weeks. So we're enjoying the warmer temperature and the return of the sun.

2) Nice fine day, thought I'd go for a trek. ;)

23. Ok...
well, then yes, that is what smog looks like. You'll notice that it's really concentrated over the downtown area. The entire city of LA is not under a smog cloud. ;)

26. Phew... I thought I'd given offense, my intention was more to ask
whether or not that is from the camera or the city.... hope the OP poster hasn't put me on ignore...

Still working on my 'netiquette', and diffs between America and here...

but yes, anyway, if that's what it really looks like, I AM rather suprised. I thought Sydney was smog-city (just moved into it from way out in the country) and all it has is a slightly brown horizon.
