"Tiger 60 Minutes would like to do a story on you."

Ed Bradley is a good liberal. Tiger hasn't hurt anybody. Tiger is great. Ed is great. What's the big fucking deal? There is no controversial story here. There was no reason for Ed to hold Tiger's feet to the fire over anything very important. Maybe Ed and Tiger just enjoyed being together and doing a puff piece?

Okay, so maybe this wasn't the hard-hitting news story you expected to see on 60 Minutes. Relax. Pick your battles. Don't beat up on innocents.

That's my complaint.

Tiger Woods is right up there with Martha Stewart et al for ubiquity. We stopped needing Tiger stories years ago, and "60 Minutes" is supposed to be better than that. Leave 'em to the Golf Channel.

...when 60 Minutes wanted to interview them, because it was the closest thing to hardcore journalism this country had. Back in the 70's, there used to be jokes, like, "you know you are going to have a bad day, when Mike Wallace is sitting in your lobby"....

Tiger WAS a story...back when he first started but now? Nah...he's a celebrity. And honestly, I expect more from 60-minutes than celebrity fluff. I can get that on Entertainment Tonight or Extra or Access Hollywood if that's what I want.

And that's not what I want.

It was the most sycophantic interview I've ever seen. :shrug:

Don't get me wrong, I like him better than most US news ('news,' I mean) types, not that I watch US news broadcasts any more (nor have I, much, for years), but that was pretty sad.

If nothing else, he's redeemed by the fact that he isn't Barbara Walters...something about that woman is, to me, highly reminiscent of fingernails on a blackboard (and it's not just the cloying and manipulative crap that US 'news' types have been pulling in recent decades, like "how do you feel about your whole family being squished to death, right in front of you, by a meteorite while you were out walking the chihuahua?").

THAT'S embarrassing. He did try his best to make out with Tiger though.
