Can you help me think of a movie?

It's this 80s film about this geeky kid in big glasses who tries out for the football team in order to impress this girl he has a crush on. Thgere's also this jock guy who stands up for the kid. What's the name of this film Help me or it's going to bug me for the rest of the night and I won't be able to get my paper on broadcast indecency done.
