Is anyone else having a hard time finding work ?
I'm wondering if there are other older people here ( 60+ ) w/40 or more years experience having trouble finding employment.
My friend lost her job when her fundie boss found she had copied a newspaper article on the company copier ( 2 pages. about toxins in sex toys)and she can't seem to get a new gig.
Is this a common problem ?

5. age discrimination is real
not too many companies if they have a health plan want women over 40, not around these parts anyway

if the friend was employed for many years, her best bet might be to hire an attorney and sue the previous employer, that is a pretty trivial firing offense for a long term employee and she should at least talk to someone and see if there is any chance of a settlement

there are jobs for seniors but they are not "real" jobs, they are jobs they take to socialize and hang out after their career is over, like walmart greeter :-( not much use if you actually need to earn some money

7. Heck - we can't get enough people here!
Well the right ones anyway - if you don't mind being complained to and whined at on the phone for hours on end. That is before they send your job to India.

Mark.
