I did something bad....................
A few months ago, my husband wrote me one of those "just in case" letters and said not to read it unless something happened to him.

Well, he is now en route to come home, and past the dangerous part of the journey (i.e., driving through Iraq to the airfield), and I decided that it was okay to read it and see what he said, since he is out of the woods now.

It was very moving, but I feel bad, like maybe I just should have left it unopened... The superstitious part of me is now worried that his plane will crash or something because I had to go and read the letter...

Anyway...

On a lighter note, I have officially been a non-smoker for 3 weeks and he will be home a week from tomorrow!

1. Let go of the superstition
Just appreciate your husband when he returns. And major congratulations on the not smoking thing!

2. I think I would feel like that, too
I have a hard time not being superstitious, even when I know it doesn't matter. Congrats on the non-smoking, and I'm very excited for you that your husband will be home so soon!! :bounce:

5. Not to worry....you didn't jinx him!
It's a silly superstition, anyhow......

And major congratulations on stopping smoking! That is a big step, and your body will thank you forever!

6. Maybe You Feel Bad Because You Broke a Trust?
He asked you not to read it unless something happened, and thanks be, nothing did, but you read it anyway. Perhaps you feel bad because you broke your word, or you read it, fearing there'd be a 'confession' of some sort? Perhaps either the violation of trust or the suspicion is making you feel bad? The best way to deal with it is to tell your husband when he returns - which will be very soon! what great news!
