Dingbat BabyWatch, Day 1
Soooooo... :D

My girlfriend's daughter, who is 18, is scheduled to have a baby soon, about a year later in life than her mom did (go figure). This will make me "a grandpa, or something." I've been lobbying to be the kiddo's Faux Pa, but we'll see how that goes.

Anyhow. She's living now with boyfriend a mere three blocks from the hospital, which delights us. Further, the baby is due...

.... wait for it.

Tuesday. June 6. 6/6/06, if you're keeping track.

Despite my best efforts, "Damien" and "Lucifer" ("Lucy," if a girl) were eschewed. Apparently they intend to name the child, a boy (they peeked) "Axton." Which I think is just an excuse to say "This here's m'boy, Ax." :D

Her mom has had a bottle of baby shampoo under the downstairs sink for about three months now. That, and the stroller in front of the goddamn TV, are the only evidence we are about to become grandparents. Young, sexy grandparents, but grandparents nonetheless. ;)

PeePaws and MeeMaws, Nanas and Grampses, all advice welcome and taken with a grain of salt. And a slice of lemon. And some tequila.

1. I had my daughter at (just turned) 19
Not an ideal situation and I wouldn't wish it (the timing) on my worst enemy. But all of life is what you make of it. Poor mom (and possibly you guys) are going to have to sacrifice alot. But some day, if you've done things right, the baby/kid/adult will reward you back tenfold by just being him/her~ an accomplished child despite all the odds. Isn't that worth all the nasty diapers?
