It was more about two ground breaking psychological experiments about what people will do when an authority figure tells them to do mean stuff.
first was an early sixties study where a guy ran a control and the subject was hooked up to electrodes. the guy administering the electric shock was told by the authority figure to continue even though it sounded like the guy hooked up was near death from electric shock.
second one was done in stamford u in 1971. make students were divided into guards and prisoners. guards got more vicious and sadistic when given unlimited authority and some prisoners had nervous break downs.
then stuff about abu garab/grabe and the "authority" commanding officers were told to use any means possible to "break" the prisoners for interrogation. Showed Rumsfeld APPROVED torture methods like nudity and dogs and a few other things. Also showed generals testifying the torture was merely "a few bad apples" when it was actually a result of their leadership and anybody in the position of those abu greabe guards would most likely DO THE SAME THING.
Also discussed the Kitty Geneovese murder in NYC that 38 people heard and did nothing about and how if responsibility is a group instead of an individual people are less likely to act helpfully.
Also had a segment about Calif frat boys letting a guy die from forced water drinking during a hazing.

5. That Stanford experiment... |
|
There was a really good film (a German film, oddly enough) inspired by that called Das Experiment.

Very interesting show..certainly showed what happened at Abu Graib was not only the fault of the soldiers/guards but also the fault of those in command at the top.

6. Definitely came from the very top |

I liked the way they set it up by harkening back to experiments that proved that if you give people enough rope, they will hang innocent people.
