I had a dream so weird it woke me up--what does it mean?
First I was at this giant man-made lake that, even though it had a cement bottom like a pool, already had some beetles and other natural things living in it. There were a bunch of wood ducks migrating, and one of them started hanging around with me. He wasn't badly hurt or anything, he just wanted me to take care of him because he liked me. I was walking around carrying this big heavy wood duck. I knew I had to go somewhere important, and I had to figure out how I could get the duck to stay behind so I could go.

Then I was at some production my younger sister (who is a minister and a Republican) was running, and it was like a combination church service/opera, and there were people in costumes all over the place, and I kept trying to get back to my motel room so I could shower because my hair looked bad from swimming, and I didn't want my sister to think I was dissing her by coming to her big event disheveled. But when I got to the motel room and went into my bathroom, Peg Bundy was in my shower and wouldn't get out!

Then I was on a hillside near the motel and I found a box full of schizophrenic notebooks, and I was trying to figure out whether the person who had dumped them was dangerous or not. The notebooks seemed to contain a lot of "Theories of Everything" and diagrams that looked important, so I was worried that the schizo had dumped them because he had become a stalker and wanted to get rid of the evidence of his delusions in case his apartment was searched.

It was so weird it woke me up! What strange meanings do you find in it?

Tucker

2. The first two in a nutshell...
you feel someone is impeding you from progressing/accomplishing what you want in life.

Just my .02, for what it's worth. ;) I am NOT a licensed psychologist!

3. Here's what I've got for now (sorry, I was heading out the door):

At the moment, you may be deeply upset and frustrated by artificiality, artifice, and the limiting constrictions of social and familial obligations (fake lake, the duck you felt compelled to carry around, the need to be presentable at your sister's event), but you might be feeling a lot of guilt about these frustrations (hence being displaced by Peg Bundy, a pop cultural icon who despite her role as a domestic partner and mother in a less than appreciative family, was always portrayed as content and in control of her own destiny--and who seemed to be almost mocking your dissatisfaction). You may even feel that if you reveal the true nature of these frustrated feelings, you will be seen as "crazy," by those around you, whom you do not feel presently understand or will understand if you speak out (as indicated by your identification with the "schizo," whose writings you knew to be important, even revelatory, but which you knew might have looked inscrutable or threatening to others, in a way that would make the schizo vulnerable to prosecution).

4. so you have someone you are taking care of
child or SO, that you feel is keeping you from doing something important. You worry about what your sister will think about you. Why the motel? Are you that distant that you stay at a motel when you visit? Peg Bundy is a shallow, superficial side of you, or someone in your life that keeps you from getting something you need (in this case a shower). You worry about the dangers of the crazy people or craziness in the outside world which you periodically find evidence of.

Of course, like Dookus of old, I am just talking out of my a$$ and have read neither Freud nor Jung's books on dreams.

6. Sleep paralysis is allegedly pretty common.
It happens to me, too. I feel and hear an intense electrical energy vibrating around me when it happens. Scared the shit out of me the first time it happened, but it actually happens pretty frequently to me.
