Poll question: What do you think of thunderstorms?
We had bad ones yesterday, and it inspired this poll. I am mostly annoyed by them, and only scared when there's a tornado threat.

1. Crazy mad love them unless they're strong enough to put people
in serious danger. Here they're normally intense but fast-moving and brief. Traditionally, throughout the South, there was a 4 pm cloudburst every afternoon. I often wonder where global warming has moved our weather to.

5. I fear there will be stronger thunderstorms

Seems to fit in with the rest. We don't get many tornadoes here, but it seems the mid-Atlantic gets more than it used to.

2. I actually know someone who got killed by lightening
So I worry when I am outside for any reason and it is thunderstorming. Sometimes thunderstorms bring tornados which are really scary. Sometimes they bring hail, which can damage stuff.

3. I love them
I get worried when I hear the tornado siren, but I don't get quite as scared as I used to.

I love to sit on the porch and watch an intense thunderstorm coming my way, until it starts raining too hard. Then I move inside and sit in front of the sliding glass door, with the lights off in my apt.

8. I LOVE them
I always go out in them and just stand and watch.

The wind and rain in my face, the thunder that sounds like the wrath of god, lightning so beautiful it makes your heart ache. It's thrilling!

We get some good ones here in Texas.

Khash.

12. My dog Reba used to be indifferent, until..
there was a tornado warning where we all got excited and went into the basement. Ever since then, she gets afraid, and likes going to the basement during the big ones.

11. I remember the time we got real bad ones here (30 years ago),
Edited on Fri Jun-02-06 04:39 PM by Call Me Wesley
lightnings hitting the grounds or the power lines next to you. And I especially remember one thunderstorm, when I was a little kid. A lightning bolt hit the building next to ours, and it was so loud and scary.

Seems to have changed lately; no big thunderstorms anymore ... I wonder if this is related to the climate change at all.

But still, I do love them.

13. I've been struck by lightning so I am "cautious".
I didn't enjoy the experience at all so I tend to shy away from electrical storms.

19. I always loved them, but lately I don't
I have very fond memories from childhood when my dad would take me and my sister on the front porch to watch thunderstorms, and so I always loved them. But within the past year or so, it seems like every time we get a bad thunderstorm we have a lengthy power outage (as in the last one a few days ago left us without power for 12 hours), so that's significantly diminishing how much I enjoy them.

21. Love 'em...
I like seeing them build up, I like the smell of the impending rain, I like the sound of thunder, and I like the sound of rain outside...

Sometimes scary, but love 'em overall.
