I believe I have Social Ineptitude
I'm an idiot; I really don't want to get into all the details right now.

It's partly my parents' fault, but I should have done something in my adulthood to improve my ability to interact with people in a more graceful and tactful manner.

Do they have charm school for people in their 40's?

Just had to vent. Something tells me it's going to be a very long Monday.

1. I can sympathize.
Tact is not my strong suit. I have trouble being subtle with people. I believe there must be a school somewhere for people to learn to fake it. My realtor is coming by this morning--I'll ask her.

2. lol.......
her or the women who work in upscale retail who can unbashedly and with a straightface tell a woman who is wearing a dress/pants a size too small and ten years too young for them that they "look GORGEOUS!"

3. I'm socially retarded myself, to use an impolite term.
Around close friends and family, I'm easygoing, but I usually can't talk to strangers.

4. Sometimes I manage to say the wrong thing around family, too
It takes a real talent, I suppose.

6. My dear KC2.........
I'm sorry, sweetie.......

Sorry today is setting up to be a long, sad day for you......

I've had days like that too.....

And, believe it or not.....I have NO diplomatic skills! Honest!

I only look diplomatic here since I have time to think about what to say...

In real life, I tend to be much more abrupt......outspoken, even.....

BTW, the book that was recommended looks very good, IMHO!

Hope your day improves!

8. I have it too...
...which is why I lurk more than post, even after two years. It's worse in the real world. Maybe the social dysfunctionals should have their own place, er, wait, I'm describing the Lounge now, aren't I?

Well, I'm just glad you have a place to vent. I hope your day gets better.

9. Thanks to all for the hugs, reassurances, and
book recommendation (I will get the book- promise!).

I made it in to work ok. Things seem better. Keeping busy is always a quick fix for the blues.

11. I feel for you - I go thru the same shit.
Whether it's a party or a meeting at work - always seems like there was a disconnect/misread/miscure of some sort.
